JMJ recreates his Oxygene album live and IN 3-D??!! That's right. You get two sets of red on one side, blue on the other 3-D glasses to view that particular version if it is to your liking. Personally, I found the 3-D to be more distracting since I wanted to make out the equipment more so than seeing depth in four guys reaching to twist more knobs. Not to worry. You can watch it with or without the 3-D turned on. A second disc, a CD remastering of Oxygene comes as a sort of bonus disc. Nice touch.

Stevie Nicks built her legend on the California-Babylon chronicles she perfected in the Seventies with Fleetwood Mac, and in the Eighties on underrated solo gems like The Other Side of the Mirror. But she still has that eternal edge-of-17 tremor in her voice. The gypsy queen is in royal form on In Your Dreams — it's not just her first album in 10 years, it's her finest collection of songs since the Eighties.

Nice to see Melbourne-based West Australian popsters the Panics returning to the recording environment. It has been five years since the band’s last album, Rain on the Humming Wire, and nine years almost to the day since their most successful album, Cruel Guards, which featured one of the most underrated Australian singles of modern times, Don’t Fight It. What the hell have they been doing for all that time, one wonders. Well, singer and principal songwriter Jae Laffer has been busy. He released his solo album When the Iron Glows Red in 2013, but away from the recording and touring world the songwriter has been championing the work of others, curating the National Gallery of Victoria’s Unplugged music series for the past two years, and has worked on the Murru Concert project, a songwriting workshop with indigenous communities. The Panics’ new album, Hole in Your Pocket, was recorded in their Melbourne studio and is released on October 7, with a national tour commencing a week later.

"The act of making this record has felt truly exotic for me by way of its minimalism," says Liela Moss of her debut solo album. Released via Bella Union in November, My Name Is Safe in Your Mouth more than lives up to Moss's promise of fresh, bold adventure. Sonically spare yet sumptuous in its emotions, elemental power and expansive melodies, the record is a richly felt, vividly-realised trip into the interior from the Duke Spirit singer. A serene-to-stormy series of deep dream-pop meditations on devotion and selfhood, creativity and parenthood, it treats unknown territory not as something to fear but as a seed-bed of possibility.

The Lens is a band that consist of some members of IQ; Martin Orford, Michael Holmes and Paul Cook. The roots of the band apparently go all the way back to the mid 70's, even if this, their first album, A Word In Your Eye, was released in 2001. The Lens is thus both a pre-IQ band and a side-project. The songs are all instrumental with exception of Childhood's End which contains a bit of vocals done by Martin Orford. A very nice track this by the way with very fine sax play by Tony Wright. The rest of the tracks are all just about of the same quality but not really in the same style. Most of the songs are calm and ambient (with a touch of prog folk in some occasions) but some are more energetic, at least for parts of them. Like Frost and Fire for instance where first half of the song is quiet and second half (as title suggests) much more spicy.

One of the most popular singers of the late-'20s/early-'30s period, Ruth Etting was not really a jazz singer (unlike her contemporary, Annette Hanshaw) but a superior middle-of-the-road pop singer who was often accompanied by top jazz musicians. She recorded over 200 songs between 1926-1937, appeared on-stage, was in 35 film shorts and three full-length movies, and was a fixture on radio before her bad marriage cut short her career. She made a minor comeback in the late '40s and was still singing on an occasional basis in the mid-'50s when a semi-fictional Hollywood movie on her life (Love Me or Leave Me) was released. A superb torch singer with a cry in her voice even when she smiled, Etting recorded the definitive versions of "Ten Cents a Dance" and "Love Me or Leave Me."
