Cliff Live at the Talk of the Town is one of the stranger live albums that anyone is likely to hear from a world-class performer, affording Cliff Richard the chance to sing in a relatively small-scale club setting. Dating from 1970 and produced by Norrie Paramor (who also conducts the orchestra), the record was – typically for Richard's work of this era – never released in the United States, but it was apparently reasonably successful in England, where it was released on the mid-priced Starline imprint.

The album was arranged and conducted by Mike Leander. With this album, Richard made a "deep and serious thrust at establishing his mainstream pop/rock credentials". The album reached #23 in the UK Album Charts in a 9 week run in the Top 40.

The title of Best of the Allman Brothers: Hell and High Water is a bit misleading, it's actually only the best of the band's Arista-label output, which spanned a two albums (1980's Reach for the Sky and 1981's Brothers of the Road). There are six tracks from the former and five from the latter, making it a wise acquisition for those who need the best material from those records.

Naughty Rhythms: The Best of Pub Rock Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Pub rock is the frequently forgotten forefather of punk rock, although on the surface the two genres don't appear to have much in common. Punk rock was about revolution and pub rock was about tradition, at least superficially. But place pub rock in its proper context, and it was nearly as revolutionary as punk. In the early '70s, rock & roll was dominated by heavy metal, art rock, and blues-rock, all genres that required skill. The simple, laid-back three-chord shuffles of pub rock – ranging from straight-ahead rock & roll, to country and blues-rock – didn't require much skill, but it was a working class, do-it-yourself movent that took rock & roll back to its roots, which is essentially what punk rock did.

A collection of recordings by the Scottish folk singer who made the successful transition to stage musicals working with Willy Russell and Andrew Lloyd-Webber & Tim Rice. This set includes her first two big hits Answer Me and Another Suitcase In Another Hall - the latter from “Evita”, along with Don't Cry For Me Argentina from “Evita”, and the Beatles songs The Long And Winding Road and With A Little Help From My Friends which she performed in Russell’s successful show “John, Paul, George, Ringo and Bert”.
It’s a great showcase for her highly distinctive voice.
