Comedy Nites

Club Nites is a post-punk album released on 14 June, 2019 created by Canadian band Dumb. This was released on the Mint label.

Midnight Riot look to finish the year strong with a long overdue compilation dedicated to the distinct, futuristic and spacey sound of Italo Disco. It cannot be understated the influence of Italo Disco had on the foundations & development of house music, especially the explosion that took place in Chicago during mid 1980’s. Following on from these origins, Italo has been one of the hottest sounds of 2018 with heavy rotation from the likes of Gerd Janson, Hunee, Palms Trax, Erol Alkin and many more.

These 28 tracks, 72 minutes in total, cover a wide range of musical styles and eras, from the 60s to the present, urban to rural, primarily by Thai vocalists and musicians, with contributions from Japan and the Philippines. 60s-America-style pop by Suri Yamuhi and the Babylon Band as well as contemporary EDM, trap and hip hop sounds are all present, but the core of this soundtrack are luk thung and molam classics from the 70s and 80s by Angkhanang Khunchai, On-uma Singsiri, Dao Bandon, Khwanta Fasawang and “The Countryside is Great” by Rungphet Laemsing, a pivotal song in the film. All tracks are complete versions, some incorporating dialogue from the film. This CD-only OST features English lyrics, and liner notes by the film’s directors Katsuya Tomita and Toranosuke Aizawa, plus Iwao Yamazaki, Young-G and MMM of the Kuzok team, and Soi 48. This is the first soundtrack release by EM Records.

While in appearance, it seems like a sequel to Liberation – a similar cover shot down to the typeface that is on the front, in this case showing Hannon in front of the IM Pei-designed entrance to the Louvre, while the back shows a similarly Rococo piece of decoration – Promenade is in fact even more extremely and defiantly non-rock than its predecessor.

Speaking about 'Office Politics' Neil Hannon says 'It has synthesisers, and songs about synthesisers, but don't panic, it also has guitars, orchestras, accordions, and songs about love and greed. I do try to make normal records, but it always seems to wander off into odd territories'. 'Office Politics' is the band's 12th album and a follow up to 2016's 'Foreverland'. This deluxe edition includes a bonus disc featuring 15 demo versions.

Comedy is hard. Movie comedy writing is very hard, and is done well by relatively few writers. That's good news. But why is movie comedy more difficult than it appears…
