Although it seemed to arrive out of nowhere in the early '90s, ambient music actually has a long and varied history, leading back to Brian Eno and Kraftwerk's electronic experiments in the 1970s, right up to Aphex Twin's textural techno soundscapes. The artists Lothar Krell and Lenny Mac Dowell have chosen the sun as a symbol of life and nature. For the sun leads through different cultures and accompanies past and future to the beginning of the sun cult, a journey that makes visible the world behind the worlds. The Pharao and sun god Echnaton symbolizes the leading figure on this album. Echanaton's Return is a mixture of natural instruments, the most modern electronics and also a live band. The history of the sun cult and the adoration of sun symbols is wrapped around planet Earth like a cobweb and thus is musically displayed by means of the most diverse musical styles.
