Corvus Recondite

Following its previous album Evoke, with the pianist Timothy End, the Ferio Saxophone Quartet returns with this exciting and innovative programme of works for saxophone quartet and voices. Founded and directed by Freddie Crowley, the Corvus Consort is a vocal ensemble based in the UK, which draws its members from a pool of young singers in the early stages of their professional careers. The project was inspired by the Quartet’s 2018 recording, Revive, an album of baroque transcriptions. Freddie Crowley writes: ‘Heinrich Schütz in the preface to his Geistliche Chor-Music, of 1648 (from which four of the items on this album are drawn) wrote: “You can perform some of these pieces […] with an organ or instruments on the choral parts along with a full choir.” The instruments he had in mind were not saxophones, of course, which would not be invented for another 200 years, but I suspect that he might have found them an excellent choice! Schütz intended his collection to be a demonstration of good composition without basso continuo, focussing on counterpoint as the foundation of compositional technique. It is these contrapuntal properties that make his and other baroque and Renaissance music so infinitely adaptable into new forms – transitioning effortlessly onto the saxophone, for example – and the same properties that underpin the four contemporary works on our album, all inspired in their own different ways by music of the Renaissance.’

Live In Montreal was recorded live on October 25th, 2015, at Stereo, a club known for it's after-hours parties and marathon sets (Digweed actually played for 11 hours that night.). In among the 81 featured tracks, there are efforts from Sei A, Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons, Agoria and Adam Beyer, as well as three Recondite cuts. "It's hard to pinpoint one particular highlight as I was loving every part of the night with the energy from the build-up and the reaction I was getting from the floor," he says. "It's really important on nights like this that you pace yourself so you don't give the crowd everything too early; you always want them to keep wanting more. I remember looking at my watch around 9 AM and thinking I have not really started banging it yet, but the place was going nuts and over the next four hours the energy in the room hit another level. It's a real pleasure to play on that sound system for that long."

Following the release ΙΧΘΥΣ, which was described by the distinguished project Plaid (Warp records) as a 'most excellent album' and selected as the best album of 2015 by Touched Music, DSPH sounds, Dmute and Lostinsound, ΙΧΘΥΣ Extended is, as the title suggests, the extension of a startling opus. It is a collection of 16 alternative versions and unreleased tracks from the same era and includes some of ΙΧΘΥΣ's key titles like ‘Corvus’, ‘Opale Verniss’ or ‘Ether’ in re-interpreted and transformed versions.

With at least 30 degrees Motörhead dashed in a shortened concert among others 'Damage Case', 'Metropolis' and 'Over The Top', like only they can. Also Deep Purple don't disappoint the Metalheads - with popular tunes like "Lazy" the forefathers of Hard Rock really accelerate with their first Wacken appearance.

Tale Of Us provides the 97th installment of the world's leading house and techno mix series from London's renowned Fabric nightclub. Tale Of Us, Carmine Conte and Matteo Milleri, debuted in 2011 on Visionquest and quickly went on to become masters of their own productions. Their current project is the imprint and worldwide event series Afterlife – already popular for its Realm Of Consciousness recordings. They released a classical/ambient crossover remixed LP Endless in 2017. Fabric 97 is presented in the pensive techno style on which Tale Of Us have built their reputation. Thirteen exclusive tracks are spread across the Afterlife label regulars and unreleased upcoming artists.
