On August 25, French metallers DAGOBA will release their seventh studio album, "Black Nova", as a cooperation between Jive/Epic in France and Century Media for the rest of the world.

Cardinal Fuzz present "Warheads", a full-length collaboration between writer/artist Adam Stone and Manchester instrumentalists Dead Sea Apes. Classic British pessimism and speculative dystopian fiction entwine with morbid social commentary and a long piss-streak of bleak humour. This is a claustrophobic and self-contained world where paranoid bunker mentality goes for a Pot Noodle with a faded society always teetering on the brink of collapse, ranting street-punk drops bad acid, and Space Station fuses with Bus Station…

Sven Väth is looking relaxed. The global House and Techno scene continues to define his life but he deals with it now at his own pace. To his mind, all that stuff is not only brimming with life but also directed by a higher order or even by the kind of “soul” familiar to us from older historical genres such as Jazz or Blues.

The new Sorrentino's TV series is already a success and, as usual, the choice of the soundtrack is profound and extraordinary. The Young Pope soundtrack mixes classics with electronic music, forgotten Italian songs (Nada "Senza un perchè" / Roberto Murolo "Era di Maggio") with Jeff Buckley, Max Richter, John Adams, Bela Bartok, Antonello Venditti, Jefferson Airplane and Domenico Modugno. A mystic experience.

"minor Masterpiece" is the 2nd album and with a stellar lineup including many from album 1. Now we have Joe Vitale (Joe Walsh, Eagles, CSN etc) as drummer. "Hair in a G-String" from 2016 has remained as No:2 album of the year on Progarchives. It could be labelled Prog before there was Prog. Split this into the written piece "Hair in a G-String" (about 46 minutes) & "Songs not in G" (About 36 minutes) and you'd have a prog album and a melodic rock album.
"minor Masterpiece" is a treat of a variety of styles and approaches. Colin is often inspired by the early seventies for the diversity and daring of the music of that time and it shows on this wonderful new offering from CTP.

When you think of Progressive music, you are unlikely to imagine a 200 year old tune with sea shanty lyrics. However this is what Folk Singer/Songwriter Andy John Bradford had in mind when he approached Progressive musician Colin Tench from Bunchakeze and Corvus Stone with the idea. The band actually formed around this one song. Despite the fact that they were all busy with their own bands already, more ideas kept flying backwards and forwards. Andy has a great feel for songwriting and Oceans 5 have proved to be rather good at twisting those songs into a whole new form. From bouncy and silly to epic rock. The 9 songs add up to one hell of an album that even the band members never imagined at the start of this.
