Himself is Irish-English singer-songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan's debut album, originally released in August 1971. Union Square Music re-released it 2011 on Salvo label in part of the Gilbert O'Sullivan - A Singer & His Songs collection. In 1972, MAM/London saw fit to let the U.S. have its first proper Gilbert O'Sullivan record, a repackaging of his 1971 U.K. debut release, Himself. The repackaging included new cover art (with Gilbert sporting the first of his famous "G" emblazoned varsity sweaters) as well as an altered track listing. "Susan Van Heusen" and "Doing the Best I Can," from the U.K. release, were omitted in favor of "We Will" and his Number One, U.S. smash "Alone Again (Naturally)."

A Perfect Getaway (2009)
For their honeymoon, newlyweds Cliff and Cydney head to the tropical islands of Hawaii. While journeying through the paradisaical countryside the couple encounters Kale and Cleo, two disgruntled hitchhikers and Nick and Gina, two wild but well-meaning spirits who help guide them through the lush jungles. The picturesque waterfalls and scenic mountainsides quickly give way to terror when Cliff and Cydney learn of a grisly murder that occurred nearby and realize that they're being followed by chance acquaintances that suspiciously fit the description of the killers.

Perspective, it seems, is everything. Those of a certain age will probablyremember Gilbert O'Sullivan as a flat cap-wearing, piano ballad merchant whose introspective sub-McCartney songs grew ever more mawkish as his success grew. Worst of these crimes would have to be the sickly ode to his manager/svengali Gordon Mills' daughter, ''Clair'' with its cute pay-off.

Gilbert’s 19th studio album since his 1971 debut Himself feels in some ways a kindred spirit to that record, which yielded his first hit, the poetic and powerful breakthrough Nothing Rhymed. It’s organic, almost live feel is encouraged by new, acclaimed producer Ethan Johns and the songs sail on the perennial O’Sullivan strengths of evocative tunes and wry insight. The album was recorded on analogue equipment at O’Sullivan’s Forbisher Drive Studios, Jersey, in easy-going sessions with players hand-picked by Ethan Johns and also features guest appearances from several incredible musicians: Andy Fairweather Low (guitar), Chas Hodges (piano) and Geraint Watkins (piano – Van Morrison, Nick Lowe).
