Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka is a 1961 Soviet film directed by Aleksandr Rou based on a collection of short stories, Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka, by Nikolai Gogol.

Slovakia during WW2. Tono lives a poor life, but the authorities offer him to take over the Jewish widow Lautman's little shop for sewing material. She is old and confused and thinks that he is only looking for employment and hires him. The odd couple begin to like each other. But some time later the authorities decide that the Jews must leave the city. What should he do with the old lady?

Ivan Brovkin returns home from the army, but he decides not to stay at his mother's house and joins the Virgin Lands Campaign. His bride refuses to go with him, so he has to persuade her to go by giving all the effort he has to fieldwork.

A teacher falls victim to a phone scam that robs her of her life savings, then realizes that there is no way to get the money back. The tables then turn as cash begins rolling in as she transforms into a scammer herself.

Film is set in the winter of 1942 during the Nazi occupation of Russia in WWII. Partisan guerrillas, headed by Ivan Lokotkov, are testing the POW Lazarev, who briefly collaborated with the Nazis for survival. Lazarev is not executed, but instead he is given a chance to prove his loyalty. He has to go back to the Nazi controlled railway station, where everyone knows him, and to hijack a train with food supplies. Lazarev proves himself a hero.

Summer 1942, a young a communications officer accused of cowardliness is sentenced to death by firing squad. A surprise attack by the Germans delays the execution and the convict and his guard are forced to flee. While attempting to deliver the convict to headquarters a friendship develops between the guard and his captive as the two go through several adventures and battle the Germans.

At a high school entrance ceremony, high school student Kotoko Aihara, who isn't that smart, notices pretty boy Naoki Irie. She falls in love with him immediately. Kotoko initially doesn't express her feelings to him, but finally has a chance to tell him how she feels. Unfortunately, Naoki turns Kotoko down, saying "I don't like dumb women". One day, Kotoko Aihara's house is severely damaged by an earthquake. Until the house is rebuilt, Kotoko Aihara and her father decide to live with her father's friend. When Kotoko Aihara moves to her new temporary house, she is surprised to learn that Naoki Irie lives there as well.
