DC Body Invaders Don't Pull It Out (2012)

Yorkshire, 1974. Britain is in recession, the oil crisis and black outs loom large. The Maynard family move into their dream house, only to find a "presence" already living there. Len, Jenny and their daughter Sally must struggle to keep their already-fragile family together as they are attacked by poltergeists. Soon it becomes apparent that Sally is their main focus of attention. The house becomes a living nightmare. They must exorcise the evil spirits for them to survive.

Post-Chromodal Out! represents the next step in Iranian-American saxophonist Hafez Modirzadeh's quest to create a seamless cross-cultural exchange of musical structures between the Persian dastgah and American jazz. Much was put into practice by Modirzadeh along with Iraqi-American trumpeter Amir ElSaffar in their co-led project Radif Suite ("scintillating. a radical cultural exchange" New York Times; "thick with ideas and inspiration" Los Angeles Times). On "Post-Chromodal Out!" Modirzadeh takes the concept one step further by introducing a piano re-tuned to a variation on Persian temperament.

The anonymous author of a popular advice column is pursued by a mob hit-man whose face she picked at random for her byline sketch. While she isn't searching for a book deal, aspiring novelist Sally (Lara Jean Chorosteki) earns her pay by penning the "Mr. Know-it-All" in a local newspaper. When a celebrity endorsement plunges Sally into the national spotlight, however, her agent requests a headshot to accompany the column. Sally responds by submitting a sketch of Albert (Jefferson Brown), a random stranger she spotted at the movies. What Sally has failed to realize, however…..

From the opening whoop from Elifantree's singer and principle songwriter, Anni Elif Egecioglu,Time Out presents itself as something mysterious. As the name of the trio elliptically suggests, Egecioglu is the principle focus, with saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen and drummer Tatu Rönkkö making up the "tree." In comparison with its well-received debut, Love and Trees (Eclipse, 2010), Time Out is something of a return to the fold of convention, but very much Elifantree's own type of experimental, pop-influenced mainstream.

The New Sell Out is a 2012 indie rock tribute to the 1967 album by The Who, The Who Sell Out. All songs and the commercials on the original are covered. This was put together by Futureman Records.
