Don Menza First Flight

Music-in all its variety- has been a constant companion of the Afro-Swiss Nicole Herzog since her earliest childhood. She began classical ballet lessons at the age of four, and until she was sixteen dreamed of becoming a dancer. Both singing and learning the piano remained just additional hobbies at first. Later, when she took part in a school musical, however, her passion for singing was set loose. From then on, she performed with regional bands in the realm of pop, soul, R & B, and funk. Don Menza is a powerful tenor saxophonist with a dynamic, distinctive sound and soloing style. His compositions such as “Groovin’ Hard” and “Time Check” have become standards in jazz study programmes at colleges and universities worldwide. In 2005 he was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.

In 1961, Art Blakey did his first tour of Japan with his then-current lineup of the Jazz Messengers. It was a young crew of players—Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Timmons, and Jymie Merritt were all in their early 20s, while Blakey was comparatively an elder statesman at 42—and the group only been together for a little more than a year with just two albums (The Big Beat and A Night in Tunisia) under their belt. This two-week tour could have been a straight cash grab, with Blakey and the band giving jazz-starved Japanese audiences a well-mannered and highly competent run through a collection of straight-ahead bop standards.

First Flight is the 1988 debut album by Craig Fraedrich. He is a sargeant major who was part of the U.S. Army Blues band as a soloist but would involve himself to do so much more. This was his first effort in his own right, released by Creative Digital Products.

In 2022, a year after the release of Kvitravn and as a prelude to the forthcoming live dates, Wardruna are presenting Kvitravn – First Flight of the White Raven; an audio-visual release captured from their lauded, boundary-pushing virtual live experience First Flight of the White Raven of March 26th 2021. This new release captures a special set list consisting of songs from Kvitravn and fan favourites from across their discography.

First Flight is a documentary about the controversy over the world's first motorized flight. Every school child is taught that the brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright flew first in December 1903.
