Alligator Records is pleased to announce the signing of famed Chicago-based blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Nick Moss. The Nick Moss Band Featuring Dennis Gruenling will release their label debut, The High Cost Of Low Living, in March 2018. Nick Moss is a bona fide bluesman to his soul with 12 solo releases to his credit, ranging from straight ahead Chicago blues to experimental blues-rock. The new album is a return to the classic Chicago blues ensemble sound Moss knows, lives and loves. But it's no re-creation of old songs. Moss wrote nine memorable new originals and Gruenling wrote two, all rooted in the blues tradition.

Alan Hartwell has been producing recording sessions with some of the worlds' finest Jazz Musicians since 1958. His career in the music business, which has now spanned four decades, began when he put together a recording band, tapping the best talent from what was previously the Arthur Godfrey Ochestra on CBS Television, to produce a session featuring drummer Cozy Cole from New Yorks' famous Metroploe Cafe, which became a worldwide #1 hit on the Pop Music Charts. Alan had pared down the larger orchestra to a recording ensemble of twelve, which consisted of Dick Hyman (Organ and Arrangements),Bert Farber (Piano), Al Caiola (Guitar), Wendall Marshall ((Bass), Peanuts Hucko (Clarinet), Pepper Adams and Barney Bigard (Saxaphones), Bernie Pevin and Joe Wilder (Trumpets), Urbie Green and Frank Rehak (Trombones), and of course featuring COZY COLE on Drums.

The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band visited Scandinavia a couple of times and was a sensation. Later when Mel Lewis and Thad Jones had some difficulties Thad got an offer from the Danish Radio Big Band where his first season was (1977-78). Thad Jones wanted to play his own music and played as many as ten radio broadcasts per year at the Montmartre Club. At the same time he also started up his own big band, Eclipse, with his own repertoire, based at Jazzhus Slukefter in the Tivoli Garden.

Label: Impulse-1969 | MP3 cbr 320 kbps | All Covers | Time: 0h 37m 37s | Size: 91.6 MB
Genre: Jazz / Soul-Jazz

When Milt Jackson wasn’t recording with the MJQ, he was making other music. He played with Ray Brown annually, all at Shelly’s Manne Hole, and this particular get together in 1969 resulted in this recording. They expanded to a bigger band, and with such Jazz/Funk royalty as Earl Palmer, Paul Humphries, Sweet Edison, Mike Melvoin, and the legendary Many Others (of which there were as the Fugees said: many many many), this record is solid. A mixture of standards and funked up Jazz, the result is something special. “Braddock Breakdown” is a an example of the great combination of Brown’s conducting and Milt Jackson’s leading (and vibes) mixed in together with a Big Band atmosphere and sound. Not too much Big Band, and not too much funky, it’s a decent mixture of the two. I wanted to throw a little Jazz vibe in midweek, and I think this will do he trick for you.

Featuring an all-star line up including Ernie Watts, Harold Land, Mike Melvoin, Wilton Felder, Earl Palmer, Joe Sample, Howard Roberts, Paul Humphries & Victor Feldman amongst many others.
