Over the past decades, Dan Laurin has established himself as one of the most interesting recorder players of our time. His more than 30 critically acclaimed releases on BIS range from a seminal set of van Eyck's Der Fluyten Lust-hof to contemporary concertos.

Plus de 10 ans après son album Goldberg Variations / Variations, une approche du chef-d’œuvre baroque du compositeur allemand dans un cadre préexistant, le pianiste Dan Tepfer va plus loin encore et nous offre une exploration plus intuitive et radicalement différente dans l’œuvre du maître. La musique de Bach permettant les moments de liberté qu’il prend sur Inventions / Reinventions, cette fois il improvise le cadre et réagit, explique t-il, « à quelque chose de plus abstrait, à la façon dont Bach s’engage dans la narration.» Quand il improvise c’est de son propre jardin qu’il extrait la sève tout en se servant des « mécanismes fondamentaux de l’harmonie tonale comme Bach l’a fait.»

The voice and songwriting talents of George Jackson have graced four previous albums released by Kent. One of the finest writers to emerge from Southern Soul he created hits for Candi Staton, Wilson Pickett and the Osmonds and this collection shines the light on his earliest work, as a staff writer at Memphis label Goldwax, working alongside his friend and staff producer Dan Greer.

Steely Dan enjoyed a highly successful run of albums in the 70s, but by the release of Gaucho in 1980, Donald Fagan and Walter Becker had dissolved the band to concentrate on solo projects. The early 90s saw the duo working together again and after Becker had played on and produced Fagans Kamakiriad they decided to hit the road as Steely Dan again. This two CD set chronicles the critically acclaimed tour with a prized KLLT-FM broadcast of their performance at the Riverport Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Missouri on September 1, 1993. He attended college in San Francisco, where he switched to guitar and began playing folk music.
