Ennio Morricone’s work on The Hateful Eight aside, most of Quentin Tarantino’s movies famously don’t have much in the way of traditional scores. The songs that have played a starring role in so many of his iconic scenes aren’t original compositions—they’re vintage gems, often dug up from the crates by the director himself. The music from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, captured on this soundtrack, is a prime example. Like the film itself, the songs—from José Feliciano’s cover of “California Dreamin’” to Vanilla Fudge’s take on “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”—are a time capsule of late-’60s Los Angeles, tracks Tarantino himself heard on the radio growing up in the city’s South Bay region (although there are, as usual for the director, lots of deeper cuts, like The Box Tops’ “Choo Choo Train”).

Interscope Records has announced a soundtrack album for the drama Teen Spirit. The album features the cover songs featured in the film performed by lead actress Elle Fanning, as well as the new song Wildflower written by Carly Rae Jepsen & Jack Antonoff. Also included are tracks by No Doubt,Grimes and Major Lazer feat. MØ & DJ Snake. A first track (Fanning’s cover of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own) is already available as a digital single and can be downloaded here. The full soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on April 5. Visit Amazon to pre-order the CD version. Teen Spirit is written and directed by Max Minghella and stars Fanning, alongside Rebecca Hall, Zlatko Buric and Agnieszka Grochowska. The movie centers on a shy teenager who dreams of pop stardom and enters an international singing competition as an escape from her small town and difficult family life. Marius de Vries serves as the project’s executive music producer. The drama premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will be released in select theaters on April 5 by Bleecker Street.

Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the action adventure Pokémon Detective Pikachu. The album features the film’s original music composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, X-Men: First Class, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Wreck-It-Ralph, Kong: Skull Island). Pokémon Detective Pikachu is directed by Rob Letterman and stars Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe. Aladdin: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack for the Walt Disney Pictures film, Aladdin, released on cassette and compact disc on October 31, 1992. A remastered reissue with altered lyrics and new artwork was released in 2001. A special edition reissue featuring two previously released demos and new artwork was released in 2004. The music on the album earned composer Alan Menken an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, as well as a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music. Johnny Jewel has composed the original music for the upcoming indie drama Don’t Come Back from the Moon. The film marks the feature directorial debut of cinematographer Bruce Thierry Cheung (The Adderall Diaries, In Dubious Battle) and stars Jeffrey Wahlberg, Zackary Arthur, Alyssa Elle Steinacker, Cheyenne Haynes, James Franco and Rashida Jones. The movie revolves around a group of fathers in a small California desert town who abandon their children one by one leaving behind a wake of anger and crime as their sons and daughters come of age. Cheung also wrote the screenplay based on the 2005 novel by Dean Bakopoulos. Jay Davis and Lauren Hoekstra are producing the project. Jewel who is best known as a member of Glass Candy, Chromatics, Desire and Symmetry has previously scored films including Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Bronson and Ryan Gosling’s Lost River. Don’t Come Back from the Moon will premiere next month at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Lakeshore Records is set to release I Lost My Body—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack featuring Dan Levy’s haunting and memorable music on Nov. 8. Levy is one half of the French electro-pop duo The Dø, along with Olivia Merilhati. He also produces for S+C+A+R+R who is featured on the album.The electronic score, which beautifully augments the poignant animated film by Jérémy Clapin, is garnering rave reviews for evocatively taking us into the inner feelings of the characters and uplifting the film. The music was overseen by the music supervisor Pierre-Marie Dru whose credits include The Wolf’s Call by Antonin Baudry, and Annette by Leos Carax.
