David Bowie is the self-titled debut album by British musician David Bowie, released in 1967 via Deram Records. Its content has little to do with the type of music that later made Bowie famous, such as folk rock from Space Oddity or glam rock from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. In late December 2015 a new David Bowie box set was announced that would be focused on his rise to rock stardom in the early 70’s. With the dawning of the new year, news that the music world feared came true, that Bowie had been seriously ill for years and had passed away. Like when most celebrities pass away, interest and demand for their output rises and it took me a bit of work to secure a copy of this box, in anticipation of its arrival I used the time to pour back over David’s back catalog of this era, from The Man Who Sold The World through Aladdin Sane as well as the few official live records, the brilliant Santa Monica 72 show, the Ziggy soundtrack, and the David Live were all in steady rotation.

Crosby was the draftsman of the transcendental harmonies that defined both of his bands, his plaintive vocals generally serving as a complement to the others'. But he takes the lead on this 52-song collection's greatest moments: his chilling falsetto on "Music Is Love" (from his 1971 debut solo release); a call out to his dying mother on "Carry Me" (1975's Wind on the Water, with Nash), and "Yvette in English," a 1993 collaboration with Joni Mitchell (Thousand Roads). Some selections swing and miss–"Hero," co-written with Phil Collins in 1993, and a few recorded in the late '90s with CPR, featuring his son James Raymond–but Voyage recuperates with disc three's 16 previously unreleased tracks. Then came Berlin, The Idiot and Lust For Life, and the legendary tour during which David played keyboards while the Ig performed manically centre stage. A 25x14cm booklet said to be "Limited Bookset 126/350".This great bootleg I just found in a very small record shop for 65Ђ while on summer holidays in the south of France.Seems to me to be an upgrade to what's been uploaded yet, but I let you listen to it and judge by yourself.I find these are tremendous shows in which Bowie plays two different sets with almost all the songs used during the first part of the tour.Sorry for the artwork, I couldn't scan it my scanner being out of order. so I simply took photos of it, think it'll be alright though…
