David Bowie is the self-titled debut album by British musician David Bowie, released in 1967 via Deram Records. Its content has little to do with the type of music that later made Bowie famous, such as folk rock from Space Oddity or glam rock from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. New Musical Express editors Roy Carr and Charles Shaar Murray said: “Listeners accustomed to Bowie's image in the seventies will probably find this debut album shocking or just plain weird.” guises would probably find this debut album either shocking or else simply quaint "), and musical biographer David Buckley described it as" a record equal to the mad woman in the attic".

In late December 2015 a new David Bowie box set was announced that would be focused on his rise to rock stardom in the early 70’s. With the dawning of the new year, news that the music world feared came true, that Bowie had been seriously ill for years and had passed away. Like when most celebrities pass away, interest and demand for their output rises and it took me a bit of work to secure a copy of this box, in anticipation of its arrival I used the time to pour back over David’s back catalog of this era, from The Man Who Sold The World through Aladdin Sane as well as the few official live records, the brilliant Santa Monica 72 show, the Ziggy soundtrack, and the David Live were all in steady rotation.

The BBC transcription disc I know very well and it was transcribed to digital in mint condition. It is, however, incomplete & is missing the tracks "Bombers" (should be inbetween "Queen Bitch" & "The Supermen") and "Almost Grown" (between "Looking For A Friend" & "Kooks") plus their Peel intros. "Almost Grown" feaatures Geoffrey Alexander on Lead Vocals. It is a shame they are omitted here although the show can be found in full on the 8CD "Ultimate BBC Radio Recording Sessions" box set.

He's always received second billing to Stephen Stills in Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and once played third fiddle to Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark in the Byrds, but there is no doubt that David Crosby is one of the true originals of a folk-rock style that has paralleled his 40-year career, which is celebrated on this three-disc set of hits and near misses, demos, and outtakes. The first two CDs run chronologically, from the Byrds' "Eight Miles High" (which Crosby co-wrote) through his '70s and '80s solo records to "Through Here Quite Often," from his 2004 album with Graham Nash. Crosby was the draftsman of the transcendental harmonies that defined both of his bands, his plaintive vocals generally serving as a complement to the others'. But he takes the lead on this 52-song collection's greatest moments: his chilling falsetto on "Music Is Love" (from his 1971 debut solo release); a call out to his dying mother on "Carry Me" (1975's Wind on the Water, with Nash), and "Yvette in English," a 1993 collaboration with Joni Mitchell (Thousand Roads). Some selections swing and miss–"Hero," co-written with Phil Collins in 1993, and a few recorded in the late '90s with CPR, featuring his son James Raymond–but Voyage recuperates with disc three's 16 previously unreleased tracks. My debut solo album is a showcase of contemporary Canadian piano repertoire that has never been recorded before. The program traverses a wide emotional landscape, from incandescent passion, to serene tranquility. It features pieces by Cris Derksen, Keiko Devaux, and Jean Coulthard.

The album is taken from the Trident Studios 1/4” stereo tapes dated 15th December 1971, which were created for the then-provisional track listing of what would become THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS album. The tracklisting for Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth) runs differently from the Ziggy Stardust album and features four songs that didn’t make the final album.

This is the final show of the Reality Tour in Japan.The quality is very good indeed, and the taper must have had a great location as there is very little audience bleed.
