AI-ML for Decision and Risk Analysis: Challenges and Opportunities for Normative Decision Theory

AI-ML for Decision and Risk Analysis: Challenges and Opportunities for Normative Decision Theory by Louis Anthony Cox Jr.
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 443 Pages | ISBN : 3031320123 | 14.3 MB

This book explains and illustrates recent developments and advances in decision-making and risk analysis. It demonstrates how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have not only benefitted from classical decision analysis concepts such as expected utility maximization but have also contributed to making normative decision theory more useful by forcing it to confront realistic complexities. These include skill acquisition, uncertain and time-consuming implementation of intended actions, open-world uncertainties about what might happen next and what consequences actions can have, and learning to cope effectively with uncertain and changing environments. The result is a more robust and implementable technology for AI/ML-assisted decision-making.

Asymptotic Methods in Statistical Decision Theory

Asymptotic Methods in Statistical Decision Theory by Lucien Le Cam
English | PDF | 1986 | 767 Pages | ISBN : 0387963073 | 68.3 MB

This book grew out of lectures delivered at the University of California, Berkeley, over many years. The subject is a part of asymptotics in statistics, organized around a few central ideas. The presentation proceeds from the general to the particular since this seemed the best way to emphasize the basic concepts. The reader is expected to have been exposed to statistical thinking and methodology, as expounded for instance in the book by H. Cramer [1946] or the more recent text by P. Bickel and K. Doksum [1977]. Another pos sibility, closer to the present in spirit, is Ferguson [1967].

Statistical Decision Theory: Estimation, Testing, and Selection By Klaus-J. Miescke
English | PDF | 2008 | 696 Pages | ISBN : 0387731938 | 8.05 MB

This monograph is written for advanced graduate students, Ph.D. students, and researchers in mathematical statistics and decision theory. All major topics are introduced on a fairly elementary level and then developed gradually to higher levels. The book is self-contained as it provides full proofs, worked-out examples, and problems. It can be used as a basis for graduate courses, seminars, Ph.D. programs, self-studies, and as a reference book.

Statistical Decision Theory: Foundations, Concepts, and Methods

Statistical Decision Theory: Foundations, Concepts, and Methods by James O. Berger
English | PDF | 1980 | 440 Pages | ISBN : 0387904719 | 35.5 MB

Decision theory is generally taught in one of two very different ways. When of opti taught by theoretical statisticians, it tends to be presented as a set of mathematical techniques mality principles, together with a collection of various statistical procedures. When useful in establishing the optimality taught by applied decision theorists, it is usually a course in Bayesian analysis, showing how this one decision principle can be applied in various practical situations. The original goal I had in writing this book was to find some middle ground. I wanted a book which discussed the more theoretical ideas and techniques of decision theory, but in a manner that was constantly oriented towards solving statistical problems. In particular, it seemed crucial to include a discussion of when and why the various decision prin ciples should be used, and indeed why decision theory is needed at all.
Behavioral Decision Theory: Psychological and Mathematical Descriptions of Human Choice Behavior

Behavioral Decision Theory: Psychological and Mathematical Descriptions of Human Choice Behavior by Kazuhisa Takemura
English | PDF,EPUB | 2021 | 389 Pages | ISBN : 9811654522 | 24.4 MB

This book is the second edition of Behavioral Decision Theory, published in 2014. The main approach and structure of this book have been retained in the new edition. However, this second edition provides a fresh overview of the idea of behavioral decision theory and related research findings such as theoretical and empirical discoveries of preference formation, time discounting, social interaction, and social decision making.
