Destruction

Destruction is a German thrash metal band, formed in 1982. They are often credited as one of the "Big 4" of the German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. In addition to helping pioneer black metal by containing several elements of what was to become the genre, Destruction was part of the second wave of thrash metal in the late 1980s, along with American bands Testament, Sacred Reich, Death Angel and Dark Angel…

Together with their countrymen Kreator and Sodom, Germany's Destruction constituted the dominating triumvirate of Teutonic thrash metal during the 1980s. And even though they ultimately failed to match these peers in terms of commercial success and longevity, at least two of their albums still qualify among the crème de la crème of the decade's speed metal. Heavy metal underwent a worldwide revolution in the early '80s, when the lingering lessons from '70s giants like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest crashed head-on with the D.I.Y. ethos of punk rock and the sheer velocity of Motörhead to spawn the much ballyhooed New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which, in turn sparked a far more powerful and lasting bastard offspring: thrash metal. Of all the nations contaminated by this musical virus as it proliferated unchecked, Germany was second only to the U.S. in terms of widespread infection…

Last year, DESTRUCTION played a breathtakingly good show at the German PARTYSAN festival. Fortunately, for everyone who wasn't able to attend, the thrash heroes recorded this metal party - and now, that the Covid-19 pandemic has crippled the whole live industry, the time has come to share this memory from a gorgeous show: DESTRUCTION release their live album "Born To Thrash - Live In Germany" as digital version on May, 8th

Destruction issue live album Live Attack on August 13th, 2021 through Napalm Records. Live Attack consists of Destruction’s live stream performance on January 1st, 2021 at the Z7 club in Pratteln, Switzerland, with the Blu-ray also featuring footage from the pre-show and after-show events included as exclusive bonus material. The band commented: “This show at our fave club, the Z7 in Switzerland, was a really special one in the middle of this dreadful pandemic! When we recorded it as a live stream on the 1st of January, it gave us hope back and connected us with the fans worldwide! Many supporters demanded to release it in physical form, so we had to make it happen. The set-list reflects four decades of Destruction with an almost two hour best-of set-list, which includes some really rare live tracks! It was for sure a night to remember… we hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!”
