There followed a series of popular singles and two superb albums that provide the bulk of this 2CD set. Showcasing the talents of some of the giants of the rock steady era, the recordings, all issued during the latter half of ’68, demonstrate just why the Duke is widely regarded as the king of the rock steady sound. With many of these tracks unavailable for decades, this 52 track collection provides essential listening for fans of Duke Reid’s distinctive Treasure Isle rock steady sound, which remains just as appealing today as it was when first created some 50 years ago!

When first released in 1959, PERSUASIVE PERCUSSION was probably the first to put stereo discs on the map bringing to light the startling and innovative musical aspects of stereo sound on records. The music was brilliantly recorded and arranged with great imagination and infinite care to bring out the whole spectrum of sound on one's stereo equipment. Originated and produced by Enoch Light, the album presented an entirely new concept in the recording of percussion instruments performed by Terry Snyder and The All Stars which included talent such as Tony Mottola, Dick Hyman and Willie Rodriguez.

Accomplished Asian-American pianist and composer Mavis Pan is scheduled to release her third album Set For Love on May 12, 2019. Equally proficient in both jazz and classical music, Pan has performed her works in numerous esteemed music halls and venues across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. She has studied under renowned contemporary classical composers Tania Leon and Dalit Warsaw and has received numerous accolades including Brooklyn College Conservatory’s Morton Feldman and Miriam Gideon composer awards and was a finalist in the YPMP/CACA piano competition.

We’re thrilled to present this, our first full length album, with some of our favorite musicians, and the culmination of four years of work! It started in early 2019 with recording sessions not long after the band was formed, but then interrupted by the pandemic. That difficult time became part of our journey, creating and releasing our “Quarantine Tracks” EP in 2021. As the world opened up, we got back to work on this album, with a clearer identity and desire to reconnect with dancers and music lovers. We hope this music gives you as much joy as it was to create. One of Canada's most enduring bands, the Guess Who rose to fame in their homeland in the 1960s and were major international hitmakers in the '70s, starting out as a hard-hitting garage-y combo (as heard on their first hit, "Shakin' All Over") and maturing into a thoughtful rock band who were as comfortable with tough, guitar-based rockers like "American Woman" and heartfelt, melodic numbers like "These Eyes."
