After its rediscovery in the second half of the 20th century, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons has become so popular that it has become a model of inspiration for similar collections that have the same subject matter, use similar instrumental forces and, often, are commissioned to be played alongside the original.

Paolo, Marco and Dino celebrate the myth of Chet Baker with original tunes and some of his favorite standards. "Tempo Di Chet" is also and especially the intimate and delicate soundtrack of a play dedicated to the legendary Chet Baker.

Few artists have as rich and varied a history with ECM as Dino Saluzzi. The Argentine bandoneon master has recorded 10 albums, and each one tells it's own endlessly inventive musical story. The spirit of Dino Saluzzi's work is derived from the oral tradition of Argentina's music and its value on melody and simplicity. A 1996 collaboration with the Munichbased Rosamunde Quartett became the starting point for Saluzzi's work with cellist Anja Lechner. Lechner has had her own success on ECM, most notably with her album, the hit Chants, Hymns and Dances. For the past six years, Saluzzi and Lechner have performed in concert all over Europe. "Ojos Negros" is the first recording from this magical duo, and creates a richly lyrical dialogue that blurs the lines between folk music, jazz and tango. This is chamber music with Argentine traditions, presented through Saluzzi compositions and the beautiful old tango tune "Ojos negros (Black Eyes)".

From the hot Italian jazz scene comes an impressive debut album of a young trumpeter. Dino Rubino was born in 1980 in Sicily. He first studied piano but switched to trumpet after hearing Tom Harrell in a concert. One of his teachers, the legendary trumpeter Enrico Rava, has praised Rubino as one of the best players in his generation. The title track from this album, "Mi sono innamorato di te" was written by Luigi Tenco and was first released in 1962.

I Draw Slow is one of the most unique bands on the Americana scene. Fronted by brother/sister songwriting team Dave Holden (guitar/vocals) and Louise Holden (vocals), this Dublin, Ireland-based group sits squarely at the crossroads of Irish and Appalachian music and has received critical praise for an original sound that bridges the gap between traditional Irish and American roots music. Joining Dave and Louise for this journey are bandmates Konrad Liddy (upright bass), Colin Derham (banjo), and Adrian Hart (fiddle).

The new Italian ensemble a.k.a. I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani is a long-established ensemble that was predecessor of the Italian ensemble, known as an expert in baroque music along with I Musici, inspired by the “Roma ensemble” that prevailed in the 1970s. This is a super ensemble that includes the masters of the Italian violin world, Federico Guglielmo, and the heavyweights that support the Italian music world both in name and reality. The sound of the golden strings and the flowing ensemble give us a blissful time.

On her second PENTATONE album Maria & Maddalena, star soprano Francesca Aspromonte explores the Two Marys in oratorios by Lulier, Bononcini, Leopoldo I d’Asburgo, Caldara, Perti, Handel and Scarlatti, partly in new editions, documenting the extremely bloom of the genre in the years around 1700.
