Claudio Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria is a love story pur sang. With this opera he narrates the long-awaited homecoming of Odysseus after his mythical travels in the aftermath of the Trojan War. After L’Orfeo - on the programme later this season - it was the second opera composed by the Italian master. Performing this masterpiece is I Gemelli, a young French ensemble founded by Chilean-Swiss tenor Emiliano Gonzalez Toro. The ensemble consists of a splendid cast including Fleur Barron, Emöke Barath and Zachary Wilder. Together, they will transform this tale of the union between Odysseus and his beloved Penelope into a breathtaking evening.

The third studio long-player from the Connecticut-based indie/emo rock troupe, "Always Foreign" finds the World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die nixing the mostly positive vibes of their two prior outings in favor of a deep dive into miseries both internal and external.

Sometimes, the best place to begin is at the end. If you really want to dig deep into Illusory Walls, the fourth album by The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, it definitely helps to do that. That's because epic closer "Fewer Afraid"-all 19 minutes, 44 seconds of it-doesn't just revisit the themes and ideas on the ten songs that precede it, but also offers a self-aware summary of the Connecticut band's entire history.

In 1952, 12 young and promising Italian musicians, mainly Roman and mostly graduates of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, got together 'inter pares' to create a unique chamber orchestra comprising six violas, two cellos, one double bass and one harpsichord. At present days, I Musici are regular guests at the most important international festivals and they carry out an intense concert activity in prestigious theatres and concert halls. On "Serenata Italiana" I Musici take you on a journey of the Italian serenade, with music by Rossini, Respighi, Bossi, and film composer Nino Rota. Featuring string playing that is both pulsing with energy and delicately sweet, this programme will leave you exhilarated.

The new Italian ensemble a.k.a. I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani is a long-established ensemble that was predecessor of the Italian ensemble, known as an expert in baroque music along with I Musici, inspired by the “Roma ensemble” that prevailed in the 1970s. This is a super ensemble that includes the masters of the Italian violin world, Federico Guglielmo, and the heavyweights that support the Italian music world both in name and reality. The sound of the golden strings and the flowing ensemble give us a blissful time.

With THE FLEMISH CONNECTION vol. 2, I SOLISTI release a second album with works by their composer-in-residence Frederik Neyrinck. He has mastered the art of writing brilliant and innovative compositions that make the most of the wind ensemble’s wealth of sound colours quite like no other. The setting of texts and stories is a recurring theme throughout this fascinating album.

The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra (OBC) and Music Director Ludovic Morlot – renowned specialist in French repertoire with four Grammy awards – release the complete orchestral works of Maurice Ravel in six CDs between April 2024 and December 2026. The first volume of the collection, recorded at the Pau Casals Hall of L’Auditori with Mike George and Stephen Rinker – producer and sound engineer of the BBC and Chandos label – includes three iconic works by the composer from Ciboure (French Basque Country).

For the American composer Caroline Shaw, writing music is like ‘cooking someone you love a meal’, she told BBC Music Magazine. The youngest-ever winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Music, Shaw has premiered works at Carnegie Hall and the BBC Proms. She has even toured the US with Kanye West and appeared in the hit HBO series Mozart in the Jungle… Good food and music ‘should be nourishing and complex; they should be something that you can taste easily in the beginning before you find there’s much more underneath’.

Two Worlds Called Home is inspired by composer Caleb Vaughn-Jones’s nine-year journey as an American living abroad in South Africa. In 2011, Vaughn-Jones was a gifted cellist from Baltimore who felt a calling toward the unknown. He abandoned the traditional path of an American musician building a career and instead moved to Port Elizabeth, South Africa to teach music. In this album, Vaughn-Jones employs his skill as a cellist to express the joys and sacrifices he encountered on this incredible adventure. Ava’s Lullaby, for example, was written for his daughter when pandemic restrictions kept him from returning to the United States.

I AM is the combination of Isaiah Collier on Woodwinds and Michael Shekwoaga Ode on Drums. This album was recorded on June 23rd, 2021 at Chicago Recording Company. This recording was inspired partly by a solo exchange between the duo during the 5th movement on the acclaimed Cosmic Transitions, entitled "Mercury's Retrograde". The one goal for the album was to go "Beyond". The Album features an introduction by Sound Healer Therapist and Poet Jimmy Chan.
