The patronage of elite Highland pipers collapsed after the Jacobite rebellion of 1745. Worried that the classical music of the Gaels would fade away, the English-speaking gentry offered prize money for scientific notations. By 1797, Colin Campbell had written 377 pages in a unique notation based on the vocables of Hebridean ‘mouth music’, but – unintelligible to the judges in Edinburgh – Campbell’s extraordinary work of preservation has remained overlooked or misunderstood until now.

Sounds From The Ground delve once again deep into their archives to compile a second ten track compilation of unreleased and rare tracks. Spanning a ten year period from 2004, the collection features a sumptuous choice cut featuring Taz Alexander as well as the fans favourite 'Clover'.

The well respected London duo Nick Woolfson and Elliot Jones return with a striking new album Binary featuring 9 brand new tracks. Binary marks the 25th anniversary of Sounds From The Ground.

London duo Sounds From The Ground come back with their 13th studio album entitled 'Native Soul'. Nick & Elliot have been making music together for over 20 years, helping to shape the panorama of the UK Electronica / Dub / Trip Hop scene with a series of forward thinking albums. This latest work is another statement of their longevity and creativity, mixing what they do best with exciting new influences. 'Native Soul' includes 10 tracks, forged in the studio between Autumn 2016 and Spring 2017.

In 1988, on the eve of a two decade civil war, Somalia’s authoritarian ruler Siad Barre launched punishing air strikes on the north of the country, known today as Somaliland, in response to agitations for independence. The bombing leveled the entire city. Barre targeted Radio Hargeisa to prevent any kind of central communication system that could organize a resistance.
