Thank you Japan for such a cool welcome to me for the concerts of 1973. Now here in this 50th Anniversary release of the original song selection, you can also see all Linda and I experienced on tour, in our video YELLOW STAR, a hidden treasure unreleased until this year. With great thanks to our film director and dear family friend, Anthony Foutz. Also thanks to Josep Umbria who re-mastered the audio tapes and Bruce Logan who restored the film. But most of all thank you Linda, I am still ‘Living For The Love Light‘ in your eye!

Donovan Leitch is widely regarded as one of the most influential songwriters and recording artists working today. At his induction into the R & R Hall of Fame it was stated, “Donovan singlehandedly initiated the Psychedelic Revolution with his album SUNSHINE SUPERMAN”. This masterwork album he created late 1965 at 19 years of age influencing his new friends The Beatles to experiment one year later on their Sgt Pepper album, Donovan’s influence also leading the way forward for many other artists. And yet Donovan is much more than the creator of the first Psychedelic Album, Sunshine Superman announced Flower Power for the first time. Presented to the world the first successful World Music fusions and most importantly, he is chiefly responsible for introducing TM Meditation and Eastern Philosophy into Modern Lifestyle and songwriting.

This re-release of Sunshine Superman might well be titled "The Ultimate Experience," or "The Total Immersion Version" - expanded to 67 minutes, it contains a new 24-bit remastering of the U.S. version of the album (the U.K. version, though it contained Donovan's preferred cover art, was compromised in its content by its extended delay in release, into the following year, owing to legal wrangling of the artist's management and recording contracts in the U.K.), plus seven chronologically related bonus tracks, "Breezes of Patchulie," "Museum" (in an early, lighter-textured version than its officially released recording from the next album), "Superlungs" (in the first of three distinctly different renditions); the longer stereo mix of "Sunshine Superman," and four never-before-heard tracks - "The Land of Doesn't Have to Be" and demo versions of "Good Trip" and "House of Jansch"…

Born Joan Chandos Báez in New York in 1941, the American folk singer-songwriter Joan Baez is undoubtedly one of the most striking voices of her generation, literally and figuratively, endowed with a crystalline timbre and ambassador of many movements including the one against the American intervention in Vietnam. Known for her relationship with Bob Dylan whose songs she performs like "it's All Over Now, Baby Blue", Baez also delivers her readings of compositions signed Tim Hardin, Jackson, Donovan or Wilson as well as her own creations, first of which titles like "Diamonds and Rust "or" here's to you " with Ennio Morricone. Very present until the end of the 70s, Baez became more rare but still active over the following decades.
