Last year, Mono Inc. released their acclaimed studio album, Welcome To Hell, which climbed to number two in the German charts. The record also contained a second CD that showed the band from a very different, dreamy-quiet side. The songs of the first CD were re-recorded with piano and strings.

Joe Brown is a one off, no doubt about it. From the days of music hall and growing up in an East End pub through the skiffle era of Lonnie Donegan then jumping, almost overnight, into rock'n'roll, Joe's seen it all. He's lauded by his peers, loved by his audiences and had his achievements honoured with both Mojo Award and MBE. Recently he's been hailed as the champion of the ukulele, the instrument he played to such stunning effect at The Concert For George, and his 'Ukulele Album' continues to sell strongly world-wide.

China Crisis are an English pop/rock band. They were formed in 1979 in Kirkby, near Liverpool, Merseyside with a core of vocalist/keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon. China Crisis were part of a wave of new Liverpool acts in the late 1970s and early 1980s, led by OMD and also including Echo and the Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, A Flock of Seagulls and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

En hoe dit energiek collectief beter te vangen dan live op het podium? In de AB in Brussel in dit geval. Met meer dan 1500 shows door heel Europa, VS, Japan en Zuid Afrika is het afleveren van een knetter strakke live-plaat deze heren wel toevertrouwd.

Point d’orgue d’une tournée dans des églises et cathédrales françaises, ce live au Mont Saint Michel permet à Laurent Voulzy de mettre en valeur les chansons les plus mystiques de son répertoire, à commencer par Caché derrière – qui ouvre d’ailleurs l’album. « Votre chant n’est pas liturgique, mais il est vraiment empreint de spiritualité », lui aurait d’ailleurs dit un prêtre après un concert. Accompagné de la harpiste américaine Naomi Greene et du claviériste Michel Amsellem, l’interprète de Cœur grenadine a eu l’idée de cette tournée au moment de la sortie de l’album Lys & Love en 2012, laquelle était déjà accompagnée d’une poignée de concerts dans des églises. Mais l’intérêt de Mont Saint Michel réside aussi dans le fait que Voulzy n’abandonne pas pour autant son amour de la pop – même si la réunion du catholicisme et d’un genre musical profane crée parfois une ambiance singulière, comme dans la reprise de My Sweet Lord de George Harrison, dans laquelle Alléluia remplace le Hare Krishna d'origine. Parmi les autres reprises de l’album, citons Ma seule amour (poème de Charles d’Orléans), Scarborough Fair (ballade médiévale popularisée par Simon & Garfunkel en 1966) et le chant traditionnel Amazing grace (avec la cornemuse de Bagad de Cesson-Sévigné).

The sound of original country blues on this CD is just amazing, real feelings and emotions. The whole Wolf Records Team worked on this CD to put all impressions of Country Blues, especially from Como Mississippi into this CD! The origin of the modern popular blues comes from the country, like Como MS, so this is the real Blues.
