GURU TONIC is a quartet of virtuoso musicians from Chicago who have toured and recorded with a who’s who of music legends including: Aretha Franklin, Ramsey Lewis, Layla Hathaway, David Sanborn, funk pioneer Steve Arrington, jazz-fusion guitar great Al DiMeola, Lionel Hampton, blues legend Buddy Guy, Von Freeman, Wycliffe Gordon, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Freddie Hubbard and Grover Washington Jr.

Peter Brian Gabriel (born 13 February 1950) is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame as the original lead singer and flautist of the progressive rock band Genesis. After leaving Genesis in 1975, Gabriel launched a successful solo career with "Solsbury Hill" as his first single. His 1986 album, So, is his best-selling release and is certified triple platinum in the UK and five times platinum in the U.S. The album's most successful single, "Sledgehammer", won a record nine MTV Awards at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards and, according to a report in 2011, it was MTV's most played music video of all time.

At his recital in Schwetzingen in 1962, Wilhelm Kempff confirmed his unique ability to connect exploratory, dreamful piano music in a repertoire with a broad radius and to give it clear gradations in all matters of style. In the process, he did not take this opportunity in Schwetzingen to follow a programmatic routine related to season and career, as is common in the risk-free assortment of works by Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert preferred by concert organizers. For the beginning of the series of pieces is likely to surprise even those familiar with Kempff's as a performer of wide-ranging sections of the piano repertoire. Rarely heard miniatures by Jean Philippe Rameau and Francois Couperin, forgotten by most practicing soloists, piano teachers and also the students following in their musical wake, show Kempff to be a musical acrobat and mystic of colors even on French territory.

Dimitri Mitropoulos avoids all overlush sonorities in his interpretation of Berlioz’s sombre yet powerfully apocalyptic piece, bringing subtle colour to the playing of the Vienna Philharmonic and demanding from the chorus of the Vienna State Opera the whole dynamic range and vocal intensity that this magnificent ensemble has to offer – its resources are seemingly boundless. The result is a musical event of avant-gardist elegance.”

This might sum up Janácek’s enchanting opera, recorded live in the usual top quality at Frankfurt Opera in April/May 2016. The Cunning Little Vixen was written between 1921 and 1923, with libretto adapted from a 1920 serialized novella by Rudolf Tesnohlidek. The opera incorporates Moravian folk tunes as it recounts the life of a clever fox and accompanying wildlife, as well as a few humans. Although it is described as a comic opera, it contains some serious themes, and some reviewers have called it children’s entertainment, while others insist it is a tragedy.
