Guitarist Phil Manzanera and saxophonist Andy Mackay (Roxy Music) are set to release a new live album, AM PM Soho Live, recorded in an Intimate venue in Soho with special guest and original Roxy Music drummer Paul Thompson. A thrilling combination of deeply instinctive instrumental interplay between saxophone and guitar swathed in ambience and unique textures, it felt impossible to pinpoint. In part classical purity, caressing and inviting, in others a throbbing invitation to an electronic Bossa Nova dance floor. The album features reimagined versions of material from their AM PM studio album alongside previous compositions from Roxy and solo albums that the band debuted during the Soho residency. "Our Man Benny" is a renowned 2010 jazz album resulting from a collaboration between the legendary American alto saxophonist Phil Woods and the Spanish Barcelona Jazz Orquestra (led by Dani Alonso). It is a profound tribute project dedicated almost entirely to the music and legacy of the legendary composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Benny Carter.

Dr. John, a six-time Grammy® Award winner and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee (2011) began his solo career in 1968 on ATCO Records, where he released seven albums that introduced classics like “Iko Iko”, “Right Place, Wrong Time”, and “Such A Night”. Rhino will explore Dr. John’s early days with a new seven-CD set that follows his evolution from a psychedelic, voodoo witch doctor to a celebrated interpreter of New Orleans standards. All seven studio albums have been remastered for the first time. The set features: Gris-Gris (1968), Babylon (1969), Remedies (1970), The Sun, Moon & Herbs (1971), Dr. John’s Gumbo (1972), In The Right Place (1973), and Desitively Bonnaroo (1974).

Dance Into the Light is as self-explanatory as titles get: after dwelling in the darkness following a divorce and a split from Genesis, Phil Collins is ready to get happy. That isn't to say Dance Into the Light is devoid of either ambition or sobriety: Collins turns "Just Another Story" into a piece of meditative funk, while "Wear My Hat," "River So Wide," and "Lorenzo" find the drummer delving into African rhythms reminiscent of Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, and Sting (it also points toward the work Collins did on Tarzan just a few years later). Nevertheless, the overall tenor of the record is bright and cheerful, the sound of a man ready for a revival. Sometimes, he'll throw out a specific callback to his past – the title track recalls the snappy punch of "Sussudio" – but often, he settles into an expertly modulated craft, favoring sprightly pop to somnolent ballads. Given this chipper outlook, it's odd that the thing that undoes Dance Into the Light – outside of the slight cognitive dissonance between the straight-ahead pop and Afrobeat explorations – is an indulgence all too typical of '90s albums made with the CD in mind: tracks stretch out one or two minutes longer than necessary, adding up to a 13-track album that feels flabby at just over an hour. Trimmed by 20 minutes, this would've been a nice little adult pop album, but as it stands, it sounds like a lively little record attempting to escape its immaculately tailored straitjacket.

In this one she plays a bored and sexually frustrated housewife who runs into an old friend whose husband is an artist specializing in paintings of women in bondage. The plot unfolds just as you’d imagine, only with more (simulated) dog on woman sex than usual. This is not a good movie for sensitive souls. However perverse the film is, though, its “message” is essentially conservative, as Tani and her husband gain a new appreciation of one another through candles, crucifixion, and canine play. S/M is a sort of couple’s therapy, and their marriage is saved. Would Dr. Phil approve?
