Musician and writer Karl Bartos has long been admirer of Weimar-era culture. During his time in Kraftwerk, he helped create the stunning track 'Metropolis', directly inspired by a band viewing of the classic 1927 Fritz Lang film of the same name. The original orchestral music composed for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Giuseppe Becce had long been lost and in 2005, after watching the film, Bartos imagined what it would be like to create an entirely new one in the 21st Century in his home studios in Hamburg. Now with crystal clear images, digitally restored by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Foundation, the film is visually the best quality it has ever been, and now, with Bartos' soundtrack, there is impressive sound to go with the haunting vision.

Bon Jovi have been part of the rock landscape for so long, it’s hard to remember a time when they weren’t yet world-beaters. But on January 21, 1984, they were just getting started, releasing their first, self-titled album on the Mercury label.

Since emerging in the early '70s, Blue Öyster Cult have sold more than 25 million records, and released a handful of singles that became classic rock radio standards, among them "Don't Fear the Reaper," "Burnin' for You," and "Godzilla."

While the Gits were a band who made a strong impression with their music during their all too brief run, it was how the group suddenly ended that would come to dominate their story. Playing a unique and passionate fusion of first-era punk, hard rock, and streetwise blues, the Gits had a sound that set them apart from their peers in Seattle in the late '80s and early '90s, when the city was hip deep in the grunge explosion.

Zero Cult is the project of Emil Ilyayev from Israel, who has been producing electronic music for well over a decade. The project was born in 2003 after discovering the new sound of downtempo and chillout music in the underground scene. Emil's music has a unique sound, that combines mysterious melodies and vibes with downtempo beats. His debut album "Art of Harmony" was described as the best chill album of 2006.

First ever appearance on CD for this 1985 session led by the British jazz saxophonists Alan Barnes and Tommy Whittle, alongside a stellar group that includes bassist Alec Dankworth, pianist Mick Pyne and drummer Alan Jackson. 'Straight Eight' was the first album to be released on the new Miles Music label in 1985, and the pairing of the established Tommy Whittle with the young Alan Barnes, who was rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the bright new talents on the jazz scene, would not have been immediately obvious.

'Memphis' is a comprehensive collection that takes listeners through the many recordings Elvis had done while in Memphis - from his songs at SUN Records, to his American Studio and Stax sessions, through to his 1974 hometown show and finally, his last recordings in Graceland.

Drawing on historical texts, Fabrice Bollon’s opera The Folly focuses on Erasmus of Rotterdam, the influential Renaissance reformer, cosmopolitan humanist and intellectual, who, in old age, reflects on the events of his life. Past and present converge as fictional figures from his books or real-life antagonists appear in much the same way as Bollon merges periods through his creative use of several 16th-century compositions. Set in an age of polarised extremism that reflects our own times, Erasmus’s humanism requires vigilance, defence and reinvention.
