Dr. John's biggest chart hits All A & B Sides from US and UK singles between 1968-1974.
Dr. John is often thought of either as an album artist or a session man, not as a musician whose medium is singles. Omnivore's 2015 compilation The Atco/Atlantic Singles 1968-1974 throws a curve to that notion, collecting the As and Bs he released on Atco/Atlantic during the height of his stardom. During this time, he sprawled out on such spooky platters as Gris-Gris but within a few years he streamlined his New Orleans funk and wound up with a genuine Top Ten hit in "Right Place Wrong Time." Both extremes are sampled here and unlike Rhino's 1995 compilation The Very Best of Dr. John, this proceeds in a chronological fashion so it's possible to hear Mac Rebennack shed the Big Easy psychedelia for smooth, rolling funk. Mac certainly did more than what can be heard in these 22 tracks – his latter-day recordings illustrated the depth of his reach, his early singles hit harder, and the full Atco/Atlantic albums show his mastery of mood – but this collection illustrates just how smart his development of the Dr. John persona was and hints at all the good music he made.

The first two volumes of the Silence project are credited to Pete Namlook and Dr. Atmo while the following three are by Pete Namlook alone.
Silence (1992) is the one that started it all, Fax's first album release and one which caught the ear of both seasoned electronic boffins and dance fans looking for a chilled-out tonic after a night among the thumping beats of clubland.
Both this album and Silence II (1993) are collaborations with close associate Dr. Atmo and despite being at times almost new age in their choice of themes (a voice whispers sweet cosmic nothings like "we are all part of the universe") the music is outstanding. These beguiling, shimmering, reverberant landscapes are sometimes beatless and sometimes gently beaty with subdued live pads and cymbals…

Dr. Feelgood was the ultimate working band. From their formation in 1971 to lead vocalist Lee Brilleaux's untimely death in 1994, the band never left the road, playing hundreds of gigs every year. Throughout their entire career, Dr. Feelgood never left simple, hard-driving rock & roll behind, and their devotion to the blues and R&B earned them a devoted fan base. That following first emerged in the mid-'70s, when Dr. Feelgood became the leader of the second wave of pub rockers. Unlike Brinsley Schwarz, the laid-back leaders of the pub rock scene, Dr. Feelgood was devoted to edgy, Stonesy rock & roll, and their sweaty live shows - powered by Brilleaux's intense singing and guitarist Wilko Johnson's muscular leads - became legendary…

Bobby Rush got dirty on 2013's Down in Louisiana but with 2014's Decisions, he returns to his slick blues-funk ways, but this doesn't mean it's a rote affair by any means. He has teamed up with the band Blinddog Smokin' and, for the first time in his career, recorded with fellow Louisiana legend Dr. John. Mac Rebennack shows up on the opening "Another Murder in New Orleans," a deeply soulful and searching portrait of the violence that often plagues the Big Easy but, really, that's the only instance when good times aren't on Rush's mind. He leers about being a "Funky Old Man" and winks about what happens on "Bobby Rush's Bus," two songs that set the pace and attitude for much of the rest of Decisions.
