Dreaming Cooper

Audrey Hepburn co-stars as the daughter of Parisian private eye Maurice Chevalier. Investigating the amorous activities of Cooper, Chevalier relates what he's discovered to cuckolded husband John McGiver, who declares that he's going after Cooper with a pistol. Overhearing this conversation, Hepburn rushes off to rescue Cooper. She keeps him far away from McGiver by adopting a "woman of the world" pose. Cooper quickly sees through this charade; still, she is fascinated by Hepburn and attempts to relocate her after she disappears. Meeting Chevalier one day, Cooper relates the story of the Mystery Woman, never dreaming that he is describing Chevalier's daughter.

The Best of OMD is a compilation album by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, released in 1988. Despite the band's waning popularity both in the UK and abroad, it sold extremely well. The version of "Electricity" used is the same as the one featured on their debut album (which itself is the band reworking Martin Hannett's original Factory version). The band were originally going to use their very first version of this song, but found the drumming to be inferior and so settled for the remix of the track instead. "Messages" is the more popular 10" single version. "Tesla Girls" and "Talking Loud and Clear" are both 7" edited versions. The Australian version of the album featured "We Love You" since that song had been a popular hit there. The CD, MiniDisc and DCC versions of the album are resequenced and feature four extra tracks not present on the LP version: "Telegraph" (a unique mix differing from the album version), "Genetic Engineering", "La Femme Accident (12")" and "We Love You (12")".

Amazon Review by JRK: Bought this to get hold on one particular track that I couldn't find anywhere else… and discovered many others that I'd only heard on white label back in the 80s. Took me right back to my yoof! Some real gems on here - proper rare - with others more obvious and widely available.
A few of the tracks are obviously recorded straight from vinyl - a few clicks and hisses, and even a small jump at the end of one track (something for all the vinyl junkies out there). Shame that some of the tracks are faded out too soon but then they have crammed 100 tracks onto 5 CDs. Large value!
