Elvis Presley belongs on the short list of artists who changed the course of popular music in the 20th century. He may not have invented rock & roll, but he was indisputably its first rock star, a singer whose charisma was tightly intertwined with his natural talent for a combination that seemed combustible, sexy, and dangerous when Presley seized the imagination of America with four successive number one singles in 1956.

Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, as well as the steady sales of his catalog and reissues since his death in 1977, may make him the single highest-selling performer in history. This collection includes 21 albums, originally released between 1970 to 1977.

This expansive set includes every recording made by The King of Rock 'n' Roll in Memphis, Tennessee, from his 1954 debut single, "That's All Right," through to the final 1976 sessions at his Graceland home. Each track has been newly mixed, without overdubs, by Matt Ross-Spang with the aim of getting as close as possible to what Elvis heard in the studio. Along the way, Memphis presents Presley's 1969 comeback sessions, his 1973 recordings at Stax, and a 1974 re-creation of his Vegas residency, billed as "The Homecoming Concert."

1999 digitally remastered 2CD deluxe issue that compiles all of the King's first recording sessions at Sam Phillips' legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. The RCA label released the basic tracks of these sessions on the album "The Sun Sessions" and added a bevy of bonus tracks featuring outtakes and live recordings to create this extensive audio portrait of the premiere years of this cultural icon. The musicians were Elvis (vocals, acoustic guitar), Scotty Moore (electric guitar), Sonny Trammel (steel guitar), Leon Post (piano), Bill Black (bass), Jimmy Lott and Johnny Bernero (drums). The package includes liner notes written by Peter Guralnick.

From Elvis In Nashville is a 4CD collection presenting the long-awaited definitive chronicle of Elvis Presley’s mythic 1970 marathon sessions with the “Nashville Cats” including two bonus discs of rare and/or unreleased outtakes from the 1970 sessions. Recorded live in RCA’s Studio B in Nashville over the course of an epic five day/night run in June 1970 (with an additional session on September 22), Elvis’ performances from those sessions formed the core of three of his most successful studio album releases from the 1970s: Elvis: That’s the Way It Is, Elvis Country (I’m 10,000 Years Old) and Love Letters from Elvis. Now, for the first time, the master recordings from the 1970 Studio B sessions may be enjoyed together as a single official Elvis album. On From Elvis In Nashville, Presley’s studio tracks from the 1970 marathon sessions are presented in pristine audio, newly mixed by acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spring (John Prine, Jason Isbell) without the added overdubs or orchestration appearing on earlier releases.
