This disc reflects Eddie Higgins's musical interest, a range including standards, Brazilian compositions, folk music, and the classics. Drummer James Martin nicely covers the variety of rhythms in the program. Bassist Don Wilmer, of Miami, is one of the rare symphony musicians capable of first rate jazz. Much of the program has a Blanton - Ellington feel, rather than the usual piano-with-rhythm.

In October 2006, expert pianist Eddie Higgins started on a challenging project. Higgins, together with Jay Leonhart and Mark Taylor, went into the studio and performed fifty love songs that had not been previously performed on another album. An even deeper jazz set than Nicole Henry’s first album - recorded with the Eddie Higgins Trio, and done in a style that’s traditional, yet extremely soulful! There’s a sound here that reminds us a lot of Carmen Lundy - as Nicole’s singing jazz, but doing so in a mode that’s never draped with any of the torchy cliches of other singers - and which is as informed by a history of soul music as it is more standard influences from jazz.
