Edgar Wilmar Froese (1944-2015) was a German artist and electronic music pioneer, best known for founding the electronic music group Tangerine Dream. Edgar was a great musician and a shrewd businessman. Realizing that he and his associates would need money to fund the progress of Tangerine Dream, he took advantage of both of those qualities and launched his solo career while Tangerine Dream was still in their infancy. That solo career has contributed many gems and classics to the e-music community. Ages is one of those classics. This album has all of Froese's virtuosity and something that his listeners rarely hear - a sense of humor. Froese does not show that side of himself to his listeners very often, so it is a treat. Putting that positive energy into play does much for this album; it makes it a classic. This CD will appeal to fans of Paul Ellis, Ian Boddy, Ron Boots, and Mark Dwane. It is an e-music essential.
While Tangerine Dream amassed its vast catalog throughout the '70s and '80s, chief Dreamer Edgar Froese was quietly releasing influential records of his own. This handy, two-disc set is a fine collection of some of the better moments from Froese's numerous solo outings, including 15 new tracks recorded specifically for this set, and the rest are extensively reworked with "new timbres." Consequently "Beyond The Storm" comes off less as a compilation than as a whole studio album based upon old themes. If you're a fan of Froese or TD this is a nice slice of that pie.
It can be very difficult to write about an artist with a reputation like Edgar Froese (Tangerine Dream). Such thoughts can cloud one's judgment and objectivity. But Froese has not been on the e-music forefront for 40-plus years for nothing. He has stayed there because he is a great musician. Pinnacles showcases his penchant for gentle melodies, heavy sequences, and light atmospheres. This disc is firmly in the middle of the Berlin school, of which Froese is a founder. This CD will appeal to fans of Alpha Wave Movement, Klaus Schulze, Dweller at the Threshold, and Radio Massacre International. It is an important e-music CD.
Edgar Wilmar Froese is a German artist and electronic music pioneer, best known for founding the electronic music group Tangerine Dream. Aqua is his first solo album, predates Tangerine Dream's breakthrough album, 1974's Phaedra. Recorded using revolutionary binaural sound techniques, Aqua sweetens Froese's uncompromising experimentation with the crowd-pleasing sleight of "head music." Over four extended passages, electronics burble, shimmer, surge, swoop and speaker-pan in hazily melodic and nebulous shapes. Aqua is the consummate headphone album, a crafty, cosmic stereophonic delight guaranteed to captivate all open minds.

When two icons of electronic music team up for a collaborative project, the result is destined to become something extraordinary. New album ‘Beginn’ is a deft fusion of the talents of Claudia Brücken – famously the lead vocalist of revered German avant-pop 80s group Propaganda – and Jerome Froese – who, as son of electronic music pioneer and Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese, was himself a driving force and member of Tangerine Dream during one of their most successful and creative phases in which they garnered 7 Grammy nominations. Tangerine Dream; the German band widely credited as being the founding fathers of the whole ‘ambient’ genre.
Plays Tangerine Dream features re-recordings by several present and past members of the band.
