El Arca de Noé

A masked Zorro-like character travels the West, battling monsters and protecting the innocent in this 1965 Horror/ Western Cult Classic. The Masked Rider fights an ugly witch, a bat-headed Vampire, a Headless Zombie, living skeletons and one of the hairiest Werewolves ever to appear in a horror movie, all in a style reminiscent of the old Universal Horror Films of the 1940’s.

El rey de San Gregorio is a story about a pure and simple love. The film talks about the life of Pedro Vargas, a 30 years-old man living in the slum of San Gregorio and presents a physical handicap and a certain grade of mental disability. Nevertheless, none of these factors will stop him from being the protagonist of this beautiful love story with his «princess» Cati, a girl who has a severe mental disability. As any other romantic drama, there are antagonists who do not approve this love.

A very poor and handicaped man, lives in a small town in Mexico with his mother. He works announcing things along the town ("The priest lost his cow, if someone sees it …"). He is very interested in the cock fightigs. One day a man gives him a looser cock, thinking to give him something to eat, but instead he takes care of the animal and it becomes a winner cock. He begins to win some money. La Caponera, a very good looking singer, erlier avoided him but now she uses her coquetry to gain some drinks. A small Mexican village faces the disappearance of a corpse. The dead man’s brother goes out to find his detective friend, a cowboy. However, he is killed by a gang that seeks to get the insurance money from the policy put on the dead man by his aunt. Meanwhile, a strange fish-man monster is stalking our heroes with the intent to kill! Can the cowboy solve the mystery in time?

Based on the Nobel Prize Winner's novel, the Egyptian Naguib Mahfouz. The story, translated from El Cairo to Mexico City's downtown, narrates the life of the members of the neighbourhood and the connection between them Don Ru, the owner of the local pub; Eusebia, his wife; Chava, his son and Abel his friend, who emigrate to USA in search of fortune; Susanita, the single landtender always dreaming to marry a good man; Guicho, the pub's employee, who extracts the money when Don Ru is not there and finally marries Susanita; Alma, the very good looking girl, the Abel's dream, who becomes a luxury prostitute while he's away; Jimmy, the handsome young man Don Ru becomes infatuated with, etc.
