Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, as well as the steady sales of his catalog and reissues since his death in 1977, may make him the single highest-selling performer in history. This collection includes 21 albums, originally released between 1970 to 1977.

During the Grateful Dead’s legendary 30-year run, the band often visited its northern neighbours in Portland, Seattle, and less-than-often Vancouver. Even so, official live recordings from those cities are something of a rarity. Pacific Northwest ’73-’74: Believe It If You Need It highlights some of the best performances from Grateful Dead’s time in the northwest.

Jerry Vale's beautiful high-tenor voice graced many of the most enchanting pop songs of the '50s and '60s, including a parade of Italian-American favorites like "Innamorata (Sweetheart)," "Volare," "Amore, Scusami," and his signature song, "Al Di La." Vale, born Genaro Louis Vitaliano in 1932, learned the Italian repertoire from an early age; his mother often sang around the house and trotted out the old songs at extended-family gatherings. While shining shoes at a local barber shop at the age of 11, young Vitaliano began singing popular songs for customers while he worked. He was soon sent to a vocal coach, where he learned piano as well as voice. Over the course of just four years, he'd progressed from school productions to paying gigs to residencies at supper clubs around New York City.

"Born Free" is an album by American pop singer Andy Williams that was released on April 10, 1967, by Columbia Records and includes half a dozen songs associated with movies or musicals. Two of these tracks, however, originated in the scores of the films indicated on the album jacket but had lyrics added later: the melody for "Strangers in the Night" was written for A Man Could Get Killed, and "Somewhere My Love" began as "Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago.

Ray, on this album, has chosen a stellar list of tracks running the gamut from the title cut to "Vaya Con Dios" and Patsy Cline's flagship, "Crazy". Each and every song herein is executed with Ray's beautiful, powerful and stunning voice and range. He never ceases to amaze in his ability to make a song his own and his vocals soar without any hystrionics.

In a career spanning over 60 years, Johnny Mathis has always had an unerring ear for a song witness his new, 2017 album featuring his recordings of future standards by Adele, Bruno Mars, and Pharrell Williams. At the dawn of the 1970s, Mathis was celebrating the great songwriters of that day, too, with a double album entitled Johnny Mathis Sings the Music of Bacharach and Kaempfert.

The rumor had always been that the original Dwight Twilley Band had completed four albums between 1974 and 1978 that were never released due to problems with their label, Shelter Records; the few writers and personal friends who heard the albums claimed the material was superior to much of their released work. The Great Lost Twilley Album collects the best "lost" tracks from this era, as well as prime material from the unreleased Blueprint album from 1980; true to the myth, the songs are easily as good as the band's classic early albums. The band especially shines on the proposed follow-up to the hit "I'm on Fire," "Shark," an infectious rocker that stands as one of the great "should-have-been-hits."

Having barely recovered from Songs of Praise - the first album and of the London band Shame - the eyes of rock’n’roll are looking further north, to Dublin. Here, an equally raucous band called Fontaines D.C. are fighting tooth and nail to show that the post-punk revival is most certainly still alive and kicking (and punching). If Fontaines D.C.’s debut album, Dogrel, has its roots in familiar ground (The Fall, Joy Division, Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd.), the fertiliser is most certainly different.
