Essential Anuna

My Love: Essential Collection is a greatest hits album by Canadian recording artist Celine Dion. It was released by Columbia Records on 24 October 2008 as the follow up to her previous English-language compilation, All the Way… A Decade of Song (1999). Before releasing My Love: Essential Collection, Dion had already sold over 200 million albums worldwide. In the album's liner notes, she dedicated this collection of songs, recorded between 1990 and 2008, to her fans who supported her throughout the years. My Love: Essential Collection was released as a single disc, consisting of Dion's most successful singles, including: "My Heart Will Go On", "Because You Loved Me" and "The Power of Love".

This release contains the complete original Kenny Burrell LP Bluesin' Around (Columbia FC38507), which showcases the guitarist in a quintet format with such stars as Illinois Jacquet, Hank Jones, Brother Jack McDuff, Leo Wright, and Eddie Bert. In addition, all existing songs from the same sessions that weren't included on the original LP plus all but one of the existing alternate takes from the dates. The music is presented here chronologically, in order to avoid mixing the personnel from the different sessions.

Trumpeter Lee Morgan unleashes his all-time classic 1964 album The Sidewinder plus two further Blue Note landmarks: 1957's City Lights featuring the Miles Davis rhythm section of Paul Chambers and Art Taylor; and 1969's Charisma featuring Jackie McLean, Cedar Walton and Billy Higgins.

Essential is a beautifully remastered 16-track overview of singer and songwriter Kim Carnes' eight years with EMI. Though she recorded two fine albums for A&M before, and a number of solid if underappreciated offerings for a number of labels after, Ms. Carnes is best known for the seven records she made for EMI between 1979 and 1986. Of course, her biggest hits are here: the ubiquitous pop classic "Bette Davis Eyes," "Cry Like a Baby," and "Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer" (in duet with Kenny Rogers). But deeper than this are lesser-known but nonetheless excellent songs such as "I'd Lie to You for Your Love," "Abadabadango," "I Pretend," "Chain Letter," and the Faces-esque "It Hurts So Bad," all of them done in an nearly astonishing range of subgenres of rock and pop.
