«Light Classics», un jure pour beaucoup, mais c'est exactement ce qui vient à l'esprit de la musique de Georges Bizet (1838-75). Bizet se révèle être un important créateur de mélodies accrocheuses et un grand expert en instrumentation. Il a créé un son orchestral romantique tardif de légèreté française et de richesse des couleurs, ce qui montre la grande compétence de Bizet. L'interprétation de Chung avec l'Orchestre de la Bastille est impeccable et souligne cette légèreté musicale sans tomber dans la douce kitsch. Le CD offre ainsi 68 minutes de pur plaisir d'écoute, musique simple au plus haut niveau.

Werther is one of Rolando Villazón's signature roles and it's easy to see why; he brings both intensity and vulnerable sensitivity to the part of the anguished poet, and he's a terrifically nuanced singing actor. All of the elements of the live 2011 performance from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in fact, are so strong that this recording easily takes a place among the most effective and affecting accounts of the opera. Antonio Pappano, music director of the Royal Opera House, draws impassioned playing and sumptuous, sensual tone from the orchestra. The group responds beautifully to Pappano's subtly inflected and dramatically charged vision of the score.

Bastille Musique presents its first release »Claude Vivier: Kopernikus« in a brilliant SWR studio recording by the Opera Factory Freiburg, the Holst-Sinfonietta and Klaus Simon (conductor). Besides the CD containing Vivier’s masterful chamber opera from 1980, which he called opéra-rituel de mort, the lavish package includes a 64-pages trilingual booklet (EN, FR, DE) and three photo leaflets with previously unpublished pictures of Claude Vivier as well as the artists during a staged performance.
