Manhattan in the Sixties. Every day, at the corner of 54th and Sixth, stood an imposing blind man with a druidic beard, dressed and helmeted like a Viking. Every day, he played music with home-made percussion instruments and declaimed poems. A simple eccentric or picturesque figure? No. Louis Thomas Hardin, called 'Moondog', was one of the true geniuses of his time. And even one of the geniuses of all time, prolific and visionary, capable of linking Bach, jazz and Amerindian rhythms, writing mini-symphonies, madrigals, piano pieces, highbrow makeshifts… His art? A rare treasure accessible to all, as unique as it is universal. His life? A solitary odyssey strewn with encounters – from Philip Glass to Charlie Parker (to whom he dedicated Bird’s Lament, his best-known song), and from Leonard Bernstein to Stephan Eicher.

American vibraphonist Dave Pike gained fame from his work throughout the 60’s with popular jazz flutist Herbie Mann, recording 11 albums with Mann’s groups, also recorded with legendary pianists Bill Evans and Paul Bley. On moving to Europe, the Dave Pike Set became an instant success through the combination of Pike’s vibes play and German Volker Kriegel’s electric, acoustic, guitar and sitar play. Kriegel’s compositions helped create the quartet’s unique sound, encompassing jazz, funk, psychedelia, avant-garde, and ethno.

UK-born, Paris-based pianist Dave Bristow’s second album Sides reflects a composer responding to a troubled world. Recorded in two sessions fourteen months apart, the album moves between contemplative ballads, bebop-influenced burners, and atmospheric pieces that benefit from some well-chosen guest appearances.

Godley & Creme were an English pop music duo composed of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. The pair began releasing albums as a duo after splitting from the pop band 10cc. The duo split at the end of the 1980s and have both been involved in music videos, TV commercials, and sporadic music projects since. These cardboard sleeve (mini LP) SHM-CD reissue from Godley & Creme features replica of the original UK LP artwork and featuring the Japanese remastering. The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet is a successful multi-guitar ensemble regularly performing, known for its variety of repertory. They are known for using nylon string guitars to imitate a variety of instruments and effects. They have played in many styles; Baroque, Bluegrass, Flamenco, Rock, and New Age are among their repertoire.

Lawnmower Deth were an interesting English thrash metal band of the late 1980s and early 1990s, who parodied the genre and recorded three-and-a-half studio albums…

Released in 1974, Faces in Reflection was, in many ways, George Duke's third album as a leader for MPS. The first two, Solus and The Inner Source, were recorded separately but issued as a double-LP by SABA, which shortly thereafter ceased doing business and was folded into MPS. That said, there is little resemblance between the man who recorded his early albums like Save the Country, those aforementioned, and the seasoned studio experimentalist who cut Faces in Reflection.

Dionysis Savvopoulos is one of the most important personalities of the greek musical scene. He is composer, poet and singer, and in the period 1966 - 1983 he released 9 legendary studio albums under the label LYRA. In his music he mixed rock musicians like Bob Dylan and Frank Zappa with greek folk music and lyrics with political and social content. This excellent release includes a fully illustrated book of 180 pages with hundreds of rare photos from Savvopoulos' life and the historical events of the period. The last pages of the book contain 9 remastered CDs in small "pockets" with nice replicas of the original LP covers.
