Festo Didactic

The book focuses on the latest developments of the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD) and its links with other approaches in mathematics education. Leading researchers in the ATD and especially its creator, Yves Chevallard, present recent research results, theoretical advances and new methodologies in this approach, concerning critical educational problems at all levels. The book is addressed to researchers in mathematics education and all related fields, to teacher educators and teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary education interested in curriculum issues and research in didactics.

From 1763 until his death in 1806, Johann Michael Haydn worked in the service of the Archbishop of Salzburg – almost as long a period of service as that of his brother Joseph to the princely family in Esterhazy.

This interdisciplinary volume takes as its subject the multi-faceted genre of didactic literature (the literature of instruction), which constituted the cornerstone of literary enterprise and social control in medieval and early modern Europe.

The book presents research works developed within the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD) by senior and young researchers that participated in the Intensive Research Program “Advances in the anthropological theory of the didactic and their consequences in curricula and teacher education” held at the Centre de Recerca Matematica (CRM) in Barcelona.
