This work will survey the entire range of thinking in psychology, from ancient times to the present, encompassing philosophies and theories of mind that pre-date our modern conception of psychology as a science, and extending to the current findings of neuroscience. It will set the theories into their historical context and cross-reference key influences, such as Darwin’s on Freud. Fifteen hundred entries will comprise key figures, theoretical concepts, false theories, historical events, and seminal writings. International in scope, this project will involve history of psychology experts from around the world and the coverage of topics will be set in global context. The aim will be to provide a reference work of more depth than discussions that are currently available in textbooks, with the ability to connect to a multitude of relevant topics. This work will provide a picture of psychology as it has emerged into the present time and position it among other related fields such as anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and medicine.

This book celebrates and explores some philosophical issues raised by the work of Alan Weir, who is Professor Emeritus at the University of Glasgow, having previously held positions at the Universities of Oxford, Edinburgh and Queen’s, Belfast. In a number of areas, Weir has elaborated strikingly original views which involve a radical departure from the mainstream. These include formalism in the philosophy of mathematics, and as well as naïve set theory, with a universal set, and a naïve theory of truth. In contrast to other contemporary defenders of the latter two theories, Weir rejects dialetheism and accepts classical rules for the logical connectives. He avoids contradictions by restricting certain structural inference rules, specifically some generalized versions of transitivity. In addition, Weir has developed radical versions of naturalism and physicalism (partly informed by his work on Quine) and perceptual realism. This collection includes contributions by a distinguished group of philosophers on Weir’s philosophy, as well as a memoir and a new essay on the philosophy of mathematics by Weir himself.

Sequenced in chronological order, the 25 tracks have been carefully chosen to include their biggest hits ("Green Green," "oday," and "Saturday Night"), standout album tracks ("This Land Is Your Land," "Preacher and the Bear," "Juliann," and "Blacksmith of Brandywine"), as well as recordings that represent their best efforts to adapt to changing times ("The Girl from Ipanema," "Highflyin' Bird," and "Funny, Familiar, Forgotten Feelings"). Unlike any other Christy release, this collection features more spotlight solos by some of the biggest talents who passed through the ranks. Of course, you ll hear the voices of the key players who defined the early Christy sound – Randy Sparks, Barry McGuire, Nick Woods, Art Podell and Karen Gunderson – but you'll also hear rare tracks by Bob Buchanan (later a member of The International Submarine Band with Gram Parsons) and a young fellow from Texas by the name of Kenny Rogers. Also, this set includes four Christy tracks that are making their CD debut, including the rare studio recording of "Walk the Road" (their concert opener in '63 and '64) and a beautiful ballad penned by Minstrel Gary Fishbaugh called "Door into Tomorrow." The set is accentuated with rare photos and behind-the-scenes liner notes by Christy historian, Tom Pickles.
