In 2014, something unusual happened. On the strength of their breakthrough album Too Many Roads, Denmark's Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado went global. Now it's one thing for an artist from Copenhagen to enjoy success at home and in a few adjacent countries. But the release of Too Many Roads saw the seven-piece combo fronted by singer and guitarist Risager gaining widespread notoriety in the U.S. and being invited to play in locales as far away as Mumbai, India. The album took home the Danish Music Award as the Top Blues Album of 2014 and also earned Germany's illustrious "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik," but perhaps even more impressively, it was selected as one the year's best by Britain's influential The Blues magazine, right alongside international stars like Robert Cray, Walter Trout and Joe Bonamassa. Clearly, Risager and his mates had taken their exhilarating mix of blues, soul and rock 'n' roll to the next level. Early in 2015, Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado celebrated that triumph by returning to one of their favorite nightspots - the Harmonie in Bonn, Germany. They would treat local fans to a one-of-a-kind spectacle, hitting the stage as a ten-piece mini-orchestra.

Bandleader Simon Jeffes composed the leadoff track "Music for a Found Harmonium" on a harmonium he found abandoned on a Tokyo street, which offers an inkling of the musical inspiration that sprang from this remarkable Englishman. As usual, he gathers a loose aggregation of musicians who create stunning, free-flowing acoustic sounds that defy categorization…

Reissue with latest 2015 DSD remastering. Comes with liner notes. A bold little message from alto saxophonist Lenny Hambro – a very strong record that should have made him as much of a giant on his instrument as contemporary talents like Lee Konitz or Herb Geller! Hambro has some of the soulful edge of the latter, and lots of the crisp, modern chromes of the former – especially in the way he runs alongside some great guitar in the group from Dick Garcia – a player we mostly know for his work on the Dawn label at the time, but who really makes the record something special here. The rest of the combo features Wade Legge on piano, Clyde Lombardi on bass, and Mel Zelnick on rhythm – and Hambro's sax work is angular and very deft – already at the top of his game. Titles include the Legge originals "Slave Girl", "Message In Minor", "Moon Slippers", and "Hoof Beats" – plus Hambro's "Thanatopsis" and "The Lonely One".

This release in Praga's Reminiscences series of SACD remasterings features the great Russian conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky leading the Leningrad Philharmonic in recordings of two masterpieces of the Romantic repertoire. Brahms's refined and intellectually complex Symphony No.4 is paired with the rich, heart-on-sleeve passion of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.5 – one of the composer's best loved works.

Of all the known treasures resting in the Motown vaults, one of the most tantalizing had always been Diana Ross Sings Songs From The Wiz. Not a lot was known about the project, aside from the fact that Ross recorded it soon after she’d filmed her role as Dorothy for the 1978 movie musical The Wiz. Of course, the reason for recording the album was obvious; MCA Records released the film’s actual soundtrack, and Motown wanted to be ready with its own project to capitalize off of the anticipated success. After all, Diana Ross was still a Motown artist, and her previous two films (Lady Sings The Blues and Mahogany) had led to a #1 album and a #1 single, respectively; surely this — a full-fledged musical — would do the same. But when The Wiz finally opened in October 1978, it performed far below expectations, despite boasting a big budget and an all-star cast. Thus, the planned Motown Wiz LP was put on the shelf, and Miss Ross moved forward with another album (1979’s The Boss, restoring her to popular favor).

The album received very positive reviews upon release, with some believing it may be Green's best album to date. The album also did well commercially, becoming the band's first number 1 album on Canadian iTunes. The album was also nominated for several Juno Awards, including an Artist of the Year nomination for Green, as well as nods for the songwriting on "Blood", "Lover Come Back", and "Wasted Love".

The new AltrOck/Fading Records collaboration NOT A GOOD SIGN was conceived three years ago by producer Marcello MARINONE together with keyboardist Paolo BOTTA (SKE , YUGEN) and guitarist Francesco ZAGO (YUGEN ). The idea behind the project was to produce a seventies-inspired style of rock music, something more accessible than the avant-garde chamber prog that characterises the two parent bands. Their music is also more songs-based than the largely instrumental work of YUGEN therefore singer Alessio CALANDRIELLO was recruited from stablemates LA COSCIENZA DI ZENO to fulfil the vocal duties. Bass-player Gabriele G. COLOMBI joined from the same band and the line-up was completed in 2012 with the addition of young drummer Martino MALACRIDA.

Watanabe went to New York, met with the original Great Jazz Trio – Hank Jones, Ron Carter and Tony Williams – before the super-group became well-known for its superb recordings.

In advance of the film's release, Big Machine Records released a soundtrack extended play consisting of five songs. One of the songs, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You", is Campbell's final studio recording. The Band Perry's rendition of "Gentle on My Mind" from the soundtrack was released as a single after the band performed it on the Country Music Association awards broadcast on November 5, 2014, and won a Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance the next year.
