Fooling Around

Fooling Around is the debut by Marie Mørck Quartet; a young, international quartet, featuring the original compositions and arrangements by leader/vocalist Marie Mørck. Regardless of her young age, Mørck manages to display a highly mature and skilled musical expression - both as a vocalist, composer and improviser. Her peculiar mix of influences, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Esperanza Spalding and Björk, creates a unique and complex sound. Her songwriting explores a vast spectrum of musical vibes that result is a highly catchy and daring variety of songs, ranging from the poetic, pensive Exclusively Yours to the energetic, fun-loving title song Fooling Around. Carrying the album through is the distinct presence and nerve, which is clearly heard in every note by each band member.

This album offers songs in jump, Chicago blues, Bo Diddley, early rock & roll, ballad, roots, and New Orleans styles. The music expresses the band's passion for, and depth of understanding of, American blues and other genres.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 release of the Beach Boys' top 10 album "Party!", group members have overseen this remixed, remastered and expanded edition, "Beach Boys' Party! Uncovered And Unplugged", which removes the overdubbed party sounds from the 12-track original album's mix and adds 69 more songs and dialogue tracks culled from all of the band's Party! recording sessions.

Compiled with much learned, many archive tapes unearthed, and recordings dug from crates since the series last volume. Spanning the full spectrum of the scene, known for it's gratifying diversity, the box set offers slick originals and intriguing covers, from early girls to late girls, beat girls, folk girls, hippy girls and mod girls. Here, you'll also find the brash teeners, the raw belters, the wistful balladeers, the brassy pub singers, the breathy harmonizers and the bluesy shouters. There are Essex girls, lasses from Lancashire, Glasgwegians and hey there Geordie girls, Chelsea debs and daughters of Cardiff and Coventry, Stoke and Southend. The Commonwealth gets a nod too, with Kiwi gals and Caribbean queens.
