Pianist, disciple of Béla Bartok, communist militant, assistant to Hanns Eisler, teacher at the Bauhaus, producer at the ORTF, conductor of choirs popular, publisher, resistance fighter, musicologist specializing in musical folklore… Paul Arma is one of those men who seem to have lived ten lives at once, from these musicians constantly on the move, better able to create and invest in their society than to value the work thus accomplished. Centered on the years of resistance and militant commitment of the composer, Chants du silence seeks to rediscover, as a first world, a part of this unjustly forgotten work.
