Frommer's New Orleans 2011, 4 Edition

It does not take very long to realize that this is a nicely put together record. The singing is intense in somewhat of a Springsteen/David Eugene Edwards (Woven Hand) manner, but unique from them. The surrounding instrumentation weaves in and out in a folk rock manner at times and works as a full throttle rock band at others. The Singer-Songwriter category does not quite do justice to the songs. I would say rock fans will like this more than people wanting straight folk, but it has a good general appeal to both the crowds seeking lighter thoughtful material and those that want a good rock beat. The music is rather universal and what is truly interesting is that the California duo behind this band has historically done so much better in Europe than in the US. While I often can understand why some great European born music may not translate as well in the US (and vice versa), I have never understood why several great US bands (Wipers, 16 Horsepower) do so much better in Europe. Add this band to that list, as US listeners need to join in. I believe this album of eleven original songs comes with a bonus CD containing a full live set. (David Hintz)

The Union was formed by guitarist Luke Morley and vocalist/guitarist Peter Shoulder after Luke’s twenty-year career with Thunder came to an end in 2009. Peter Shoulder was the vocalist, songwriter and musical rudder of Winterville. In 2006 he won The W.C Handy Blues Foundation award, presented to him in Memphis for co-writing the American Blues Song of the Year, ‘Think of Me’. The song was performed by blues legend Little Milton. At the time of winning there were only two other British artists to have received that particular award, the others being Eric Clapton and Peter Green.

Halfway to Heaven is the second studio album by Brantley Gilbert. It was originally released on March 16, 2010 via Average Joe's Entertainment. The deluxe version of the album was released on September 13, 2011 via Valory Music Group. This re-release featured remixes of all the tracks, as well as several new tracks that were not on the original version of the album.

A supergroup of rock, pop, and world music heavyweights, SuperHeavy feature Rolling Stones icon Mick Jagger and neo-soulster Joss Stone along with guitarist/producer Dave Stewart, reggae artist Damian Marley, and Indian musician/composer A.R. Rahman. Formed around 2009 as a result of Stewart and Jagger's mutual love for Indian orchestral music as well as the music Stewart heard in his adopted home of St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica, SuperHeavy began experimenting on tracks backed by Marley's touring rhythm section. In 2011, SuperHeavy released their debut self-titled album, featuring the reggae single "Miracle Worker" and the Rahman-composed cut "Satyameva Jayathe."
