In the late '80s and early '90s, Lenny Kravitz and Living Colour accomplished something that Gail Ann Dorsey was unable to accomplish: they demonstrated that an African-American artist could, in fact, become a superstar with an R&B-influenced approach to alternative rock.

Linda Gail Lewis - sister and frequent collaborator of rock n' roll founding father, Jerry Lee Lewis - proudly presents this splendid, heartfelt tribute to her sibling and musical partner! Recorded at the legendary Sun Studios, where Jerry recorded many of his foundational hits, and produced by rockabilly guitar extraordinaire Danny B. Harvey with special guests Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats) and Linda's daughter Annie Marie Lewis! Linda has been performing most of these songs live for years but she was inspired to cut studio versions that capture the song's original energy while sonically updating them!

Tom [ Scherman, of the Little Orchestra Society ] came to me and said, “Hey Kubik, I’m being pestered all the time by the pianist in my orchestra, Frank Glazer, for a solo appearance, and by Bob Nagel, my trumpet player, and the principal violist [ Theodore Israel ] .” And so Tom, figuring to kill three birds with one stone said, “Can’t you write me a piece for piano, viola, trumpet, and orchestra, and I’ll have my three players do the solo parts and they’ll get off of my back?” I said, “Sure.” And since it came within a month or so after I’d finished recording the score to the film C-Man, which had exactly those three solo instruments, I just re-wrote it as the Symphony Concertante. Don’t do that thinking that you’re going to save time. It’s twice as hard, it’s ten times as hard, than to just write a new piece.

Robbie Fulks is a recording artist, instrumentalist, & songwriter living in Chicago. His most recent release, Upland Stories, earned wide-spread recognition & 2 Grammy® nominations. His early work helped define the 90s "alt-country" movement while his newer work extends that tradition with old-time rambles, reflections on love, & the troubles the people.

This release ’Pellegrina’s Delight’ is a joy from start to finish and a testament to Vivaldi’s undoubted genius. It is good to have this wonderful disc of Vivaldi works imaginatively themed around the oboe and a most welcome change too from yet another version of the ubiquitous ‘Four Seasons‘!
