One of the preeminent vibraphonist's in jazz, this CD contains two complete LPs from the onset of Gary Burton’s career. The trio album New Vibe Man in Town marks Burton’s debut LP as a leader, while the quartet album Jazz Winds from a New Direction showcase the vibraphonist in collaboration with celebrated guitarist Hank Garland. Drummer Joe Morello is featured on both albums.

The release of the Gary Peacock Trio's Now This celebrates Peacock's 80th birthday. Accompanied by pianist Marc Copland and drummer Joey Baron, the bassist explores compositions both familiar and new. His collaborators also contribute a tune each. "Gaia" first appeared on 1995's A Closer View with Ralph Towner. In the intro to this version, Copland uses his instrument's high register to commence a call and response with Peacock; Baron's use of muted cymbals adds a gauzy texture before the waltz tempo and the lyric commence, adding a new dimension.

A 30-year friendship that turns into a recording session and an album of great bond between three virtuoso musicians. They know the different currents of jazz perfectly but they do not fall into a specific category. In fact, they dominate several styles and finally have fun intertwining their differences, capturing with finesse the harmony of their instruments.
