Hania Rani announces "Music for Film and Theatre", a personal selection of recent compositions for film, theatre and other projects.
Writing music for film and theatre has always been a big part of Hania Rani's musical world. It is also a part of the creative process that can be tantalisingly out of reach for listeners, either the project doesn’t come to fruition or the music simply isn’t available away from the film or play. From early collaborations with friends, to last year’s two scores for full length films (xAbo: Father Boniecki directed by Aleksandra Potoczek and I Never Cry directed by Piotr Domalewski‘) Rani has been involved in many such projects, each representing an important step in her artistic development and life as a composer and artist.
Mastodon's constant state of musical evolution dictated that the weirder, often complexly brutal progressive excursions on earlier albums took a back seat to pile-driving riffs and more approachable melodies on 2014's Once More ’Round the Sun and 2017's Emperor of Sand. The David Bottril-produced Hushed and Grim embodies their history of musical experimentation in 15 songs that crisscross prog, stoner, doom, and psych metal through vanguard and earworm melodies amid sometimes exotic modal, dynamic, and textural excursions…
Flesh and Blood is the nineteenth studio album by Australian musician Jimmy Barnes, released on 2 July 2021 through Bloodlines. The album was announced on 25 March. Barnes wrote most of the record while in the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in 2020. Flesh And Blood is about the unbreakable bonds that bind us to our families through all of life's ups and downs. These connections flowed through the creation of new music; Jimmy's wife, son, daughters and son-in-law all contributed to the writing and recording of the album. Flesh And Blood was produced and mixed by long-time Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel collaborator Kevin "Caveman" Shirley.
The two-CD set is being issued as a companion – or ‘soundtrack’ – to Marx’s book ‘Stories to Tell: A Memoir’. Includes never before released demos of his hits, live tracks & brand new recordings. Also features Richard's versions of his biggest hits. Marx enjoyed enormous success in America in 1987 with his self-titled debut album, with four singles from that record reaching the top three in the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (‘Hold On To The Nights’ hit the top spot). ‘Right Here Waiting’ was released in 1989 and hit number one in many countries. Global success came a year later, with ‘Right Here Waiting’, the second single from his second album Repeat Offender.
