George Katsaros Sax Unforgettable Melodies (1994)

Since the latter half of the 80 s, Pascal Rogé, who has been actively involved in Poulenc's works, has collaborated with Duboscq of Soprano, a Kashu Maille from Bariton, to record his sophisticated songs composed for poems under Apollinaire. An album that allows you to get drunk with delicate accompaniment and unquoted beautiful voices.

Both Duruflé and Fauré wrote their Requiems for choir and organ first. The orchestrations were afterthoughts bending to the excesses of public appeal and publishers' demands, at least that's what I was taught in college. Both works can be wonderful with orchestra and on this CD, the consistently excellent St. Martin in the Fields gives a beautiful interpretation of the Fauré Requem with orchestra.

The sax player from New York grooves through some laid-back new-jazz-swing, while the Dancing Fantasy team oversees his impressive effort with some fine producing. A cool mix of musical styles showcasing George's multi faceted use of the sax.
