Debut by Hunt Sales Memorial is an explosive 12-track roots-rock exploration from the Runt band member, "Lust for Life" beatmaker, and Tin Machine co-founder; out January 25th 2019 from Big Legal MessMEMPHIS, Tenn. - A conventional bio of Hunt Sales would start by noting his famous associations, recounting his much-revered work as a sideman for Todd Rundgren, Iggy Pop and David Bowie.
The album title refers to Daddy Mack's (aka Mack Arthur Orr) day job as an auto mechanic, but if he applies as much soul to his car repair business as he does his vocals and laid-back guitar work, he might be able to quit that gig. While he's not attempting anything unique or even doing it in an unusual way, Mack and his three-piece backing band personify Memphis soul/blues in a consistently satisfying set of mostly original (if highly derivative) tunes. Whether rewriting Albert King's "I'll Play the Blues for You" as "I Don't Understand You Baby" or laying into a jaunty, upbeat shuffle on the appropriately titled "Daddy Mack Shuffle," Mack effortlessly finds the heart of his R&B-laced blues. His fluid guitar lines are smooth and unruffled, yet create a powerful groove…
We are all very excited about our new album, “Get your Groove!”, released on American Showplace Music label. I feel like this CD is our best one yet, combining our own approach to Blues, “Soul-Jazz” and “Jam Blues” music. There are ten original tunes, both vocal and instrumental and one classic blues tune, “Hesitation Blues”. I have written a song on this CD entitled “Freight Train”, for my bandmate and friend Butch Trucks, the legendary drummer and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, who sadly left us in 2017. I wrote it, trying to write something that Butch would have loved to play. When we were getting ready to record, I asked Jaimoe, Butch’s drumming partner in the Allman Brothers to come to the studio and play along with us.
A celebration to mark 50 years of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band! Mannthology brings together all of the band’s singles from 1971 to date, including some from solo projects, and contains previously unreleased tracks, hard-to-obtain B sides and rare mixes. The set showcases Manfred’s striking ability to identify, arrange and perform other people’s songs to make them his own, including songs by Dylan, Springsteen, Marley, Weller and Sting.
