In 1956 Glenn Gould’s first Columbia Masterworks release, Bach’s Goldberg Variations, took the music world by storm and immediately established the 23-year-old Canadian pianist as one of the most brilliant, original, charismatic and provocative classical performers of his time. Sixty years later, Gould’s prolific recorded output remains a stimulating presence, thanks to Sony Classical’s newly remastered collection of his complete authorized recordings. "The Sound of Glenn Gould" presents highlights from this definitive presentation of the legendary pianist’s discography.

The Doors are releasing the fabled studio outtake “Paris Blues” as the title track to a new blues-themed compilation coming out on vinyl for Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on November 25. The song – which is the last known unissued studio recording by The Doors – has been talked about by fans and band members for years.

“Paris Blues” also serves as the title track to a new blues-themed compilation of the same name coming out on vinyl for Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on November 25th. The album will be available as a limited edition of 10,000 numbered copies on translucent blue vinyl at select independent music stores. The LP’s cover art is an original painting by guitarist Robby Krieger, and the set also includes liner notes by blues scholar Mary Katherine Aldin.

Glenn Robertson Yarbrough was an American folk singer and guitarist. He was the lead singer (tenor) with the Limeliters from 1959 to 1963. He also had a prolific solo career, recording on various labels. There were numerous obscure attempts, most of them commercially and artistically unsuccessful, by folk revival veterans to move into folk-rock-pop in the last half of the 1960s. This 1968 release considers all sides of romance, with songs by David Gates, Hoyt Axton and Glen Campbell among others. The Libertines' debut album, Up the Bracket, turns 20 in October, and to celebrate, Rough Trade Records is reissuing the album in a variety of formats, including remastered vinyl editions and a deluxe box set with 65 bonus tracks.

Following the huge success of their disc of Schumann's first two Piano Trios (CDA67063) which won a Gramophone Award and was descibed as the best chamber record of 1999 by BBC Radio 3, The Florestan Trio here complete their recording of all Schumann's Trios and present further chamber works by Schumann. In the Piano Quartet the trio are joined by viola player Thomas Riebl who performed the work with them most recently at London's Wigmore Hall, to great critical acclaim. Although the Quartet in E flat has never achieved the same degree of popularity as the famous Quintet that preceeded it, this wonderful performance is sure to win the work new admirers.

Where the Lilies Bloom is a 1974 American drama film directed by William A. Graham and starring Julie Gholson, Harry Dean Stanton, Rance Howard, and Jan Smithers. Based on the 1969 novel of the same name by Bill and Vera Cleaver, it follows four underage siblings in Appalachia who attempt to conceal the death of their widowed father to avoid being separated. The film was shot in Watauga County (towns of Boone and Blowing Rock), Ashe County (towns of West Jefferson and Lansing), and in Avery County (towns of Elk Park and Banner Elk), North Carolina. Soundtrack music is by Earl Scruggs. Children from local elementary schools were recruited to act in the film.
