Dushan Petrossi joined the ranks of many prominent power metal artists of the late 90s revolution in choosing the nadir of the genre as the appropriate time for a few years of studio silence. Between his two projects, Magic Kingdom has proven to be the more geared towards innovative ventures, while Iron Mask has been a more conservative affair, and consequently comes off as the more dominant of his two projects…
As a musician, as a man of ideals, and as a true world citizen, Yehudi Menuhin made an extraordinary mark on his era. The Menuhin Century commemorates the 100th anniversary of his birth on 22 April 1916. Focusing on material completely new to the catalogue, or new to CD, Unpublished Recordings and Rarities spans more than five decades, and includes Menuhin's first European recordings, made in 1929.
Back in 2006 after I left DOMAIN, even if we ended up with the best album that band was able to do, I needed a change of pace, something a bit more back to where I came from, back to where my heart is. What I wanted to do was a real Classic Rock album. Straight PURPLE, RAINBOW, HEEP, MANFRED MANN… you name it. Quickly I got the boys together to do it, and we managed to record a few demos. Among the first releases on CD are two piano concertos (nos. 2 and 5) by Alexander Tcherepnin, with the composer as soloist; and the Second Violin Concerto by Jean Martinon, with Henryk Szeryng. Also Karl Amadeus Hartmann's Eighth Symphony and short works by Stravinsky and Weber.
In 4 years At Vance has popped out a whopping 5 full length studio albums, something that only Black Sabbath and a few other bands in the metal genre can brag about accomplishing. Through this time period they have maintained a very consistent sound, combining the melodic and speed elements of bands such as Helloween and the symphonic/shred elements of early Rising Force. The result is an interesting blend of melody and power that can be summed up as Neo-Romantic Metal…
