Health Informatics: An Interprofessional Approach 2

This book presents innovative research works to demonstrate the potential and the advancements of computing approaches to utilize healthcare centric and medical datasets in solving complex healthcare problems. Computing technique is one of the key technologies that are being currently used to perform medical diagnostics in the healthcare domain, thanks to the abundance of medical data being generated and collected.

Digital health is becoming a key solution to improve access and quality healthcare delivery through overcompensating geographical barriers and facilitating evidence-based decision-making. Big data, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, machine learning and other technologies are playing an enormous role in the advancement of public health. Public health informatics is an emerging concept becoming to improve access and quality as well as reduce catastrophic health expenditure.

Conversational informatics investigates human behaviour with a view to designing conversational artifacts capable of interacting with humans in a conversational fashion.

This book focuses on signal processing techniques used in computational health informatics. As computational health informatics is the interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption and application of information and technology-based innovations, specifically, computational techniques that are relevant in health care, the book covers a comprehensive and representative range of signal processing techniques used in biomedical applications, including: bio-signal origin and dynamics, sensors used for data acquisition, artefact and noise removal techniques, feature extraction techniques in the time, frequency, time–frequency and complexity domain, and image processing techniques in different image modalities.

This book includes selected peer-reviewed papers presented at the International Conference on Trends in Electronics and Health Informatics (TEHI 2021), organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, during 16–17 December 2021. The book is broadly divided into five sections—artificial intelligence and soft computing, healthcare informatics, Internet of things and data analytics, electronics, and communications.
