Heavens Official's Blessing

Frontiers Music Srl is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of a long-awaited new studio album, "Get It Right" from Philadelphia hard rockers Heavens Edge. This will be their first official release since 1998, when the demos and other rarities,considered the band’s second album, "Some Other Place, Some Other Time" was put out. Original members Reggie Wu (guitars, keyboards), Mark Evans (vocals), David Rath (drums), and Steven Parry (guitars) are joined by newest member, bassist Jaron Gulino (Tantric, Mach 22), who joined the band after the tragic passing of original bassist George G.G. Guidott.

Trumpet and organ - and yet conceivably far removed from the usual of this popular line-up: that is "O man, pay attention!" - not just an eye-catcher, but program, when the world-class trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich and the Essen cathedral organist Sebastian Küchler-Blessing contemporary works, which as A reaction to the horrors of the Third Reich, placed in dialogue with arrangements of romantic works: in addition to the eponymous slow movement from Mahler's Third, "Kol Nidrei" by Max Bruch and Brahms' "O Tod, wie bitter bist Du" can be heard. Zsigmond Szathmáry, who was highly esteemed by György Ligeti, wrote an “…ad memoriam…” about the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin especially for this production.

Astronomy is the oldest and most fundamental of the natural sciences. From the early beginnings of civilization astronomers have attempted to explain not only what the Universe is and how it works, but also how it started, how it evolved to the present day, and how it will develop in the future. The author, a well-known astronomer himself, describes the evolution of astronomical ideas, briefly discussing most of the instrumental developments. Using numerous figures to elucidate the mechanisms involved, the book starts with the astronomical ideas of the Egyptian and Mesopotamian philosophers, moves on to the Greek period, and then to the golden age of astronomy, i.e. to Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, and Newton, and ends with modern theories of cosmology. Written with undergraduate students in mind, this book gives a fascinating survey of astronomical thinking.

This book grew out of sense of mixed vexation and concern that has been building up inside me for a long time.
